Only went to the shop and the lady was very helpful about telling us that since it was raining, we would have a hard time with our vehicle on a very rough road. Therefore, this rating is for the information that the lady provided us.
The lady at the shop where you pay doesn't like her job. When we got to the mine location, a guy looked at our pass and told us to park. He was neither friendly or unfriendly. The few crystals we found were very small and...More
Best place in the area to dig and find double terminated Crystals and small clusters. Not a place for big Points but you could get lucky!
As in all mines, better after a big rain! Bill will help if you are inexperienced. Bring bug spray....More
We were actually headed for the Ron Coleman mine when we saw the gift shop on the corner. The sign said buy your permits here, so I figured we better stop, so we didn't have to go back later. They don't sell permits to Ron's...More
I started digging crystals 23 years ago and for the past 17, only went to Miller Mt. because they were the best. I never failed to find lots of great stuff. This past weekend I took two first timer friends to dig and we found...More
Years back when I began searching for which mine to go to, this was the cheapest, gave you the ability to search all day and keep whatever you find. We went and loved it and have been back once a year since then. We usually...More
This is a great spot to find some amazing crystals. The last couple of miles is uphill on gravel and dirt roads. Pretty bumpy, but did it in my Honda FIT with no problems. The day we went, it was cloudy and COLD, and very...More
The road is extremely rutted and rough. Thank goodness we were in 4 wheel drive truck. We found quit a few crystals and clusters. Had an all around good time. Found lots of rocks that will look wonderful in our flower garden and crystals to...More
I visit this mine often, but yesterday was different as i had a flat tire going up the dirt road. By the time I got the pay station house, the tire was all the way flat. The guys who work here came right out and...More

For Big Clear Quartz, Ron Coleman’s is a great place. They have a cheap Campground right on the property, where you can stay for $12.50 a night. Monday, Wednesday and Friday they usually bring up Dumptrucks of dirt from the Mine, unless they are blasting. This is a huge operation and the largest Mine in my experience. Be ready to dig and get dirty. Not a lot of surface collecting. Also, in Mt Ida Sweet Surrender has a good reputation. Have fun!
