Only went to the shop and the lady was very helpful about telling us that since it was raining, we would have a hard time with our vehicle on a very rough road. Therefore, this rating is for the information that the lady provided us.

Years back when I began searching for which mine to go to, this was the cheapest, gave you the ability to search all day and keep whatever you find. We went and loved it and have been back once a year since then. We usually leave with truck loads of crystals. I will say the last two trips have not been as successful for me. I'm not sure why, but I'm not finding as many big pieces or big clusters, but there are still plenty of very pretty points to find. My husband found a point that was about 3-4 inches wide. The man who runs it is extremely nice and very enjoyable to talk to. My only concern, which cost the review one star, was the bathroom, which is usually dirty (it is a mine afterall), but was really disgusting this last time. Garbage overflowing all over the floor and someone seemed to have diarrhea all over the toilet and it had dried that way. I had baby wipes and wiped the seat the best I could and still ended up squatting over sitting to pee out of desperation. It was pretty terrible. We usually change clothes before leaving but we left as we were because no one wanted to brave the bathroom. That's my only real issue with the place. Minor things are the road which is very difficult to get up but part of the experience to me. I would come more often if we could get there in our car but I have to rent a vehicle to go and that always makes going a concern for us. I did think it was slightly better than the previous year when we started so maybe they tried to help it, but as you near the top, it again became a bouncy ride. I don't recommend doing it a car. You need a truck or an suv. I've done it in a car once before I knew better, but I scraped and prayed the whole way. I also wish they had running water for hand washing and a wash station for crystals with fresher water, but that's all I can say would need improvement. I like that there are usually just about 10-15 other people there. I've heard other mines are crowded with people and school buses full of kids. I like the quiet of this one. I've never tried any other place to compare it to, but we've always been happy here. I couldn't compliment the niceness of the people more and even finding less these last 2 trips, we still found more than enough to be very worth the $10 admission and the time with our family makes it wonderful. We packed a picnic and ate at the picnic table they have. Parking is very close so it's not a lot of walking. Kids 9 and under are free. The 3 generations of my family from my parents in their 60's to my sister and I with our husband's in our 30's, to our kids ages 6-17, we all had a truly wonderful time. I can't wait to go back!

I started digging crystals 23 years ago and for the past 17, only went to Miller Mt. because they were the best. I never failed to find lots of great stuff. This past weekend I took two first timer friends to dig and we found nothing, I mean nothing, and other people seemed to be having the same luck. The mine caretaker changed since last I was there, but I don't know if that means anything. I dug in a pile that literally no one touched since it just came up from the mine, and found zero. I hope this isn't the way it always is now, but I won't return unless I see good reviews around the time I plan on coming back. Soooo disappointed. The road to get up there was pretty rough and if you just have a car you might have a really tough time.

This is the 3rd time I have been to the mine. The last two times, back in 2012 and 2014, the mine was nice and we found lots of great stuff. Today, was a huge disappointment. The bathrooms were broken and we had to squat all day in the bushes filled with poison ivy behind the restrooms.I had my husband, my elderly mother, ny 11 year okd and his feiend, and my 20 year okd daughter andnher boyfriend. My daughters boyfriend went to go down the hill for more privacy to use the restroom since it was beoken and there were people digging on the hilk who coukd see him going to the bathroom. While doen the hill, he and came back with a nice crystal. Some little kids that were by our group ran and told on our group to the guy running the place and we weren't doing anything. I was walking in the road with an older lady looking off to the side of the road that leads to the restroom and the owner came asked us what we were doing. I was just walking on the road toward the bathrooms looking on the ground and was told we were not allowed to walk on the road. An elderly lady I did not know said she couldn't walk on the uneven terrain and he said she had to stay behind the ropes up on the hill and couldn't walk in the road either. I feel this was ridiculous because obviously you have to walk in the road to get to the restroom and I did nothing. The place was run down, we did not find any crystals and when we left, they were staring hard at us like we stole diamonds or something. After a 3 hour drive to get there, I will not be back.

My mother and I decided on an impromptu trip from Texas to Arkansas to hunt crystals. We came across a sign for the Coleman Miller Mountain Mine and decided to check it out. We were greeted by Mick and he kindly gave us all the information we needed to know before we started digging.
We had a blast and found a lot of great pieces! We ended up visiting this mine three days in a row and plan to visit again next time we make a trip back up to the area. Thank you for the great experience.

I have been to this mine for the past ten fall seasons, always had a good time and good luck finding crystals, however last fall was a completely different experience and one I do not care to repeat. Back in August of 2014, longtime caretakers retired and were replaced by a gal who claimed to have dug there a few times before. She told us on our arrival that there were six fresh piles of dirt and mud placed there a few hours before we arrived. It was a cool day, so they should have been soft and muddy still, but when we checked, they were like concrete, hard to pry apart without hammering and one doesn`t want to do that unless you want fractured crystals. We decided to do a surface hunt the past, one could always find small crystals and clusters laying all over the ground there, even in the parking area, but not this time....they were nowhere to be found. I found out why later on, when I purchased a basket of quartz, as I usually do before leaving there, no matter how successful I am at finding crystals there. Normally their baskets are heaped high with quartz crystals, plates and clusters, well worth the $ 35 per basket price, but not this time...this time there were a few clusters on top, resting on a pile of dirt with hundreds of very tiny crystals and clusters embedded in the half basket of clay dirt...more like a $ 20 baseket disguised as a $ 35 basket. I didn`t find this out til I got home, an eight hour drive later. Needless to say, I wont be returning til good management is restored at this mine. Maybe Jimmy Coleman himself needs to return to manage it. I`ll be going to Wegners at Mt Ida and Ron Coleman`s mine at Jessieville next time.

We went to the large Coleman mine to dig for quartz crystals, and there were busloads of school children with pails ready to search. Someone told us about Miller's, and it was our lucky day! We were only able to dig for three hours because it began raining. Still, we brought home a trunk load of treasure. Don't let the narrow back-roads frighten you; you can get up the mountain!

No bathrooms, not even a port a potty. Im not a diva, we spend alot of time outdoors. We dont mind goin behind a tree but there wasnt even that. No place to go, everything is roped off except the piles of dirt. And NO running water. We were told thier water didnt work. And I believe the guy, cause it looked like he hadnt had a bath in years. People were going to the bathroom where people were looking for Crystals. Gross. Dog poop and people poop where people where digging. The office and house was also disgusting.very, very nasty.

The lady at the shop where you pay doesn't like her job. When we got to the mine location, a guy looked at our pass and told us to park. He was neither friendly or unfriendly. The few crystals we found were very small and not big enough for jewelry. It is obvious the people running the place don't care about much, because there was trash everywhere. Compared to Ron Coleman's mine, this was a huge disappointment.
