“Hello Shanna, Thanks for choosing Moro Bay State Park and the answer to your question is Yes, you can check in after hours. The park visitor center closes at 5 p.m. but it is common for guest with reservations to arrive after that. We call all of our expected guest prior to their arrival to let them know how to get in the cabin after hours. We have electronic door locks and a secret code is entered and communicated to each guest prior to arrival so they can get in when they arrive. We also have park rangers that live on site to assist anyone who has trouble. Here are 3 things I would recommend to make your late arrival go smoothly. 1. Be sure to make your cabin reservations in advance. We operate with a small staff but do our best to maintain high standards in a scenic and unique location. If you haven’t made a reservation prior to our visitor center closing, you will not be able to get a cabin. 2. Make sure you give us a phone number where we can reach you when making a reservation. A cell phone is a better choice when you are traveling than a home phone you won’t be home to answer. Also, feel free to call the park with questions about your stay at any time from 8-5. After dialing 870-463-8555, press 2 to talk to on site park staff who can tell you the details about what you might want to know. 3. Make sure you are familiar with the basic rules of the park. Such as quiet hours start at 10 p.m., parties and reunions are prohibited in our cabins (but we do have pavilions that can be reserved for them by calling the park to accommodate them during the day), all vehicles must park on the pavement, no smoking is allowed in our cabins, no more than 6 adults are allowed to stay in any one cabin (fees apply to each adult beyond 4 adults), and only 1 cabin is dog friendly. Non-compliance with park rules will likely result in a visit from a friendly park ranger.”
