Had the worst experience of my life checking in with Joseph and Millie Marie at dam site campground. Have been going to this park for ten years and have never run across such rude and ignorant staff members such as these two! I wanted to check in a couple of days earlier than my reservation since my site was available as a "walk in." This simple request baffled them both. Neither one of them could even find my reservation even though I provided them with a confirmation letter from recreation.gov.. Then once they found it, they couldn't figure out how to add four nights to my reservation. Isn't this your job? Anyway, when I helpfully suggested that in the past staff have just treated the extra days as a separate "walk in" reservation instead of altering the original reservation they both told me they couldn't do it that way in the computer. Millie even told me in a not so polite manner to not tell them how to do ther jobs. So after a long, tense, verbally abusive, and unproductive 15 minutes guess what conclusion they came to. That's right, they treated me as a "walk in" for the extra nights and left my original reservation as is just like I had originally suggested before I was verbally abused and lost 20 minutes of my life. These two people should be fired immediately for their complete incompetence and abusive behavior. On the upside, this park is beautiful and all other staff members have always been friendly and professional. My suggestion. Avoid these two if possible and enjoy everything this park has to offer.

We enjoyed a wonderful VRBO cabin right on the lake just outside of Heber Springs, AR.
Cleanest, clearest water around!
Camping is available at many locations around the lake.
Boat ramps, too.
Skiing is great fun as is fishing, tube riding and swimming.
Many dive shops come here for training because of the clarity of the waters.
Fishing opportunities from Bream to Striped Bass abound in this massive impoundment.
Entertainment was provided on a stage at the marina and as we were staying just across the lake we enjoyed free music!
Greers Ferry Lake is a beautiful place to visit.

We had a family reunion at the lake. Rented a VRBO house, beautiful house on the rocky terrain. The water is clear for 10-20 feet down, much clearer than any Texas lake I’ve been to!

The dam on the lake is just phenomenal and huge! I had the chance drive across it to admire the vast beauty of the lake and to gaze hundreds of feet down into the majestic valley of the Little Red River. I love this place!

We camped at the Dam Site campground at Greers Ferry Lake. We stayed on loop M as only loops M and N have water hookups. The campground was clean, and well maintained. There are multitudes of bath houses that were kept clean. there are water fill stations at every loop (save for M and N) so if you are camping on a loop with no water hookup there is ample water to be had. It is a short drive to the swimming area from the campsite. I would recommend water shoes as the shore is rocky and getting to the rock cliffs will tear up feet. There are lifejackets free for use. Fellow campers were polite and quiet. My family will be returning to this campground as we were very happy!

Decided to drive north to see what I would find. Decided to go to Fairfield Bay because it is where the original Fairfield (now Wyndham) started. Didn't get to go around the lake to hear the history in the pontoon however the scenery from the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain is beautiful. There are 90 steps to get you to the top of the mountain. It is steep in some places.

We had the pleasure of camping at Greers Ferry Lake this passed week. Even with the extremes in the temperature we couldn't have had a better week. I equally enjoyed basking in the sun while laying in the hammock and sitting out by the campfire bundled up with two blankets. The lake is truly one of my happy places!!! It could be yours too!!!

The Greers Ferry Dam construction began in the late 1950's and was completed in 1962. When you visit the lookout over the dam, you have a beautiful view of the lake. Be sure to read the short histories in the plaques there. Two workers lost their lives during construction. President Kennedy dedicated this dam in October of 1963. I was very interested to learn that this was his last public appearance before his assassination in Dallas. And the fish hatchery is also a must-see. And the park Rangers will tell you all you ever wanted to know about fingerings and fish in general! A beautiful place to visit!

We have been to other lakes in Arkansas but Greers Ferry was/is the best. The water was very clear & refreshing. The amount of boat traffic was light which was nice. The night life is very slow so be sure to take whatever supplies you need as eating out is not a big option. I am sure there are good places but the area is very rural. If you are going want an "adult beverage" be sure to take them with you as it is dry county. A super trip, wonderful lake . . . . good times & memories. We will go back next summer.

This is one of my family's favorite vacation spots. It's pretty remote, so you don't have to deal with lots of crowds and drunk rednecks. I love the scenery, and the lake itself is often smooth enough for water sports like skiing. You definitely need a boat to fully enjoy being on the water, but if one's not available, just swimming in the clear water is lots of fun.
