Lac Tritriva is very gorgeous and will be a very good place to visit when in Antsirabe. You have to take guide and that will cost at least 15000 Ariary and an entrance fee 10000 per person. You have to walk up a bit to have a good view of the area and then you will get to the extremely blue water. I would recommend swimming there en have a small hike of around a small hour including a swim. There will be children trying to sell stuff, which is a bit annoying, but you will not find many other tourists, we did not see 1.

In Antsirabe in Ramdo Raid Madagascar bike rent shope, I got the bike and basic map to go around Antsirabe. It took me about 2 hours or 20 KM to get there, passing Lac Andraikiba and other villages on an interesting dusty road. There is entrance fee 20000 Ar and even for this site mandatory guide with the additional 20000 Ar. At lest this crater lake is much nicer than Lac Andraikiba. I enjoyed more ride back but this time I went down, as recommended by the rent bike shop, towards Betano through the incredibly nice countryside and paddy fields, and when on the main road I turned left back to Anstribe. On the whole 50 KM. If you do not take drink no problem getting refreshments or snacks at any village.

Lac Tritriva is located about an hour from the city. We had a great time walking around the crater and hearing the story from the local guide. The cost was 20 000 for the whole car, plus 15 000 for the guide.

There are people trying to sell items. The contact was limited to when buying tickets and after the walk/hike.

If you have children, it is important to be mindful as there are locations where the drop is quite significant. If you are going to swim with children, be mindful that there are no 'shallow. spots.' There are a few rocks but not much.

I would happily do this activity again and go back to La Casa for lunch! A lovely morning for a family outing.

Difficult to get to and a miserable experience to visit. Touts and children swarm your car from the time you pay the entrance fee and throughout your hike. I couldn't enjoy the views or even listen to the (required) guide because they were begging for money the entire time.Of course I feel for them, but it was completely inappropriate. The lake itself is pretty, but buggy. There is more worthwhile beauty in Madagascar.

A beautiful crater lake and a nice tour of the lake accompanied by a friendly and interesting Guide.
There are two circuits, one single around the lake and the other longer with the ridges.
Guide is mandatory at the entrance to the park. It makes us discover the legends and history of the place as well as the many medicinal plants that surround the lake.
A good Sunday break in our mission at the end of a fairly easily accessible track.
Be careful on the way the pozzolane rolls easily under our feet. So move Mora Mora downhill.
The water is fresh! 15 degrees all year round, it seems. But transparent which gives the lake an emerald appearance.

Small lake of volcanic origin inserted into a deep fault and surrounded by dense vegetation. To reach it from Antsirabe you travel along a dirt road, the km are not many (about 17) but, given the conditions of the road, at least 1
now to travel it, both on the way out and on the way back, because it is very bumpy. Take this into account to calculate the times of the trip well, we left in the afternoon and were only able to take a look at the lake from the first viewpoint, then we had to return without being able to take the walk around the lake, to avoid finding ourselves on the road after 18 in the dark. The view of the valley and its villages is very beautiful.

Tritriva is generally considered a picturesque and impressive place. It is a crater lake surrounded by green hills, and many visitors find it beautiful and peaceful. Hikers and nature lovers often enjoy the opportunity to discover this unique lake in the heart of the Madagascar highlands. However, as with any destination, it is important to consider safety precautions and respect the environment when visiting Tritriva Lake.

After a short crossing of the countryside, we arrive at a barrier for entry fees and the guide. That alone is already worth it. Then, the walk in the crater and by the lake is very beautiful. The guide we had was great, explained everything to us brilliantly. In short, it’s one of the things to see!

Beautiful easy hike, the lake has beautiful colour, it was clean and we were able to jump in and swim !

Local guide at the entrance.

Cons :
Local kids that surround you, getting to close to you in an uncomfortable way.
They will try to sell you stones.
They will run after the car, until you get to the hiking point, and will wait for you at the end.

Don’t let it influence your hike, just be prepared !

We arrived in the afternoon and wanted still to see the lakes and the famous brewery(from outside). The road is not that easy at all (self drive in Madgagascar is not so common- you will understand if you do so). At the entry of the local lake entry you are overwhelmed with people what want to sell amonites and different kind of stones. Entry is not cheap but consider it as a contribution to the community. The trip around the lake takes between 45 and 60 minutes. quite nice. We had a young quite well English speaking guide (still learning). The road is bad!
