If you're visiting Maracaibo, this is a place you must see! It's the only street in the city that has been preserved in the traditional colonial style with colorfully painted houses. There are many restaurants in this area to enjoy.

...we could not get out of the car. Our driver assessed the situation and told us the risk to explore on foot was too great. A real shame, because it truly is a lovely area bathed in vibrant colours and a true city asset. Would love to see it again some day. And truly hope the situation in Maracaibo turns around soon.

A tiny cleaned up area of the city for a traditional look at how the city started and for a cold beer. Still a lot of garbage and strays around, but a bit more secure and some good local food you can buy from local vendors.
