Walking from the Basilica to the statue is a real treat. It is a beautiful site in every way. The statue itself is magnificent. The walkway is lined with benches and appears to be a lover's lane with kissing couples everywhere. Caution: This location is in one of the most dangerous parts of town. Do hide valuables, cameras, phones, etc. and be mindful o0f your surroundings!

This place is nice to go with children or family. Children can take they're skates and play around. Two of the most representative churches in the city are at both ends, so is a must. Take your cautions for crowded places and is better to always visit mid afternoon, or at least before is goes too late in the night.

This is definitely the prettier landmark of Downtown in Maracaibo, the Catedral is just a few blocks away,Teatro Baralt and the Famous Plaza Bolivar. When you travel around Maracaibo you will see a lot of statues of " La Virgen de Chiquinquira " but here in La Plaza del Rosario the Statue is gorgeus, you will definitely feel that you are in the heart of the town, and you feel the love and protection of La Virgen around you, Maracuchos are fervent believers of this Virgen , so you definitely want to go and have some pictures taken and buy some local souvenirs. The only bad thing is that Downtown Maracaibo can be a little dangerous if you are a tourist, and lots of people try to sell something to you, specially if you look like a tourist, is always good to be alert and caucious not carry a lot of cash or special traveler documents with you, if you have a friend with you that is a local is a plus. Maracaibo definitely is one of my favorite cities in Venezuela. People is kind and happy and the food is very good!

The monument of the Virgin of the Rosary of Chiquinquirá is a symbol of faith and unity for Maracaibo. Located in front of the basilica, in honor of the virgin Morena. The square is in good condition and always kept.
