    Excellent Architecture: Shouldn't Miss...
A great design by Carlos Raúl Villanueva, worldwide know Venezuelan architect. Definitely must see if you are an architect or into architecture. Campus' general lay-out is designed in harmonious with landscaping and embrace the buildings delicately and became like one. Especially the architectural faculty is a masterpiece. Architect had succeeded in the design that the sunlights fall on the dark areas, architectural elements and brut concrete so creates wonderful shadow/light effects. There are open areas and squares that appears unexpectedly for gathering of students to get socialized. Even the long bus stop in front of the faculty is very unique design. Still remember how I was fascinated while walking inside the campus and buildings. Should never miss it out. Hail Villanueva, rest in peace Big Architect.

It is a great place with lots of history but right now is like the rest of the country: in ruins. I use to vsit the University during weekends and I stop doing so specially if I have to leave it at night because security is very poor ... I hope one day we will recover democracy and our icon places

The university center is renowned for its superior arts developments but in recent years has undergone a lack of maintence which is affecting considerably the surroundings. The internal roads, the sidewalks have loads of pot holes and thus i cannot recommend it to travelers. It also has been under armed attacks by political groups who are against the university government. Another aspect is the University botanical gardens called el Jardin Botanico is also lacking maitenance and is loosing alot of species.

The site, the gardening, the architecture and the art pieces all around; make the visit a deligthful and unique experience.

Sadly, nowadays the maintenance is poor and the vandalism has damaged a lot.

Another "cave at" is insecurity.

It was built based on idea of "ideal city" on the 40`s
For me was interesting in the art side; Arquitect Villanueva meet various national and intenational artist and you can find among others: Jean arp`s Cloud shipper, Henri Laurens` Amphion in Plaza Cubierta. Fernand Lèger`s Vitral (Stained glass) close to principal library; Alejandro Otero`s polychromy in Faculty of Architecture, in a special way Alexander Calder`s Flying Saucers at Aula Magna, considered one of best examples contemporary art, architecture and audio acustic enngineering.

University campus full of art masterpieces. The Aula Magna (auditorium) is a must to see and if you are lucky enough, to watch a performance in it will fulfill your best dreams. Try also The Jardin Botanico (Botanical Garden) situated adjacent to the campus, which belongs to the University.
If in Caracas don't miss this place.

The campus has many artistic treasures, but it is not very well maintained and unfortunately, there is a security issue. I was told by a faculty member that it is not recommendable to stick around after 4 p.m.

UCV is a fairly big campus
I was only at the Aula Magna area

There are students milling about, and also security guards around.
