    UN ENCUENTRO CON EL PASADO MARGARITEÑO
    Ubicado en mi zona favorita de Margarita, en plena bahía de Pampatar, el castillo de San Carlos de Borromeo es una construcción que tardó 20 años en realizarse, incluso a pesar de haber sufrido grandes daños a lo largo y ancho de la historia, hoy en día perdura gran parte de su estructura.En su momento, fue la construcción mas avanzada a nivel de ingeniería en toda la isla y si sus paredes pudiesen hablar nos contaría grandes defensas exitosas ante piratas y corsarios. La historia mas importante ocurrió en 1813 cuando el prócer de la independencia Santiago Mariño ataca el fuerte de forma exitosa hiriendo y desterrando al tirano español Eusebio Antoñanzas. El encanto de Pampatar es único, queda muy cerca de Porlamar pero sin el caos que la principal ciudad de comercio de Margarita brinda, sus calles mezclan la historia con la modernidad y su bahía de Pampatar brinda una playa sin olas que invita al perfecto relax en familia. Al ser un sitio de pescadores, aún se puede apreciar en pleno apogeo la actividad en la zona. Volviendo al castillo es el mejor conservado de todos, manteniendo intactos sus cañones, fosa y hasta puente levadizo que para personas (como yo) amantes de la cultura general y la historia nos pone a soñar, al menos por un momento, con imaginarnos la Venezuela del siglo XIX.

    Siamo stati a visitare il castillo e da li abbiamo assaporato un bellissimo panorama , nonostante il vento fortissimo che c era abbiamo fatto delle bellissime foto.

A quick stop only is all that is required here in order to see the site and get a few pics. Seems to be quite popular with Venezuelan tourists though.

The castle is in good shape and well maintained. However there is not information about the historic events that occurred there. There is no collection, just the castle structure with a few rusted cannons. The view is nice so it is a good place to take some pictures and if you are interested in history, you need to make the research previously to your visit to the castle

It was just amazing walking into this place.....seeing all those artifacts of weapons that was used were unreal...can't imagine trying to lift one of those..lol of all the places I had visited that day here had some breathtaking views.
