We visited here as part of a San Antonio de Areco tour with Camino Pampa. Enjoyed seeing the beautiful things crafted in silver including royal trophies, stirrups, jewelry, etc. There was also leather goods. Being a Sunday morning, we really didn't see any craftsmen at work. worth a visit.

The workmanship of Marioano the silversmith is amazing. No one today can do repoussé as he. His father's work is on exhibit. He began the silversmith work for the Gauchos. It's so interesting to see the bridles, spurs and cinches made of silver and leather and learn about the techniques of doing it. His wife, Maria introduced us to him and it was so nice to share experiences with him as my husband is a goldsmith. They are a delightful couple.

This is a small museum in the main square of San Antonio de Areco, which is a few hours away from Buenos Aires. It's the old house of the original silversmith. And is now run and managed by the son and his family. The silver jewelry and other pieces are beautiful. I wished we had more time to linger around to see. I could have bought something for myself.

2nd generation family silver smiths. Worth paying the admission to watch the video and look at all of the gorgeous silver pieces. A real look into the gaucho culture. One of the nicest things to see in Areco.

We arrived in San Antonio de Areco for the express purpose of visiting renown silversmiths, Draghi. Dumb Americans that we are we did not know that the ENTIRE town shuts downs for siesta from 12:30 to 4:30 pm each day. When we found our way to Draghi they were in the process of pulling down the shades on their windows. Happily, the clerk took pity and opened their treasure chest of a shop and museum to us. She then called out the owner, a second or third generation Draghi (?) to show us around. He educated us, answered our questions and even provided a tour of the design studio and workshop. Their immense skill and pride is on display in everything they produce. Being at the end of our holiday and at the end of our money I limited myself to one belt buckle. And this is where the story takes an almost unbelievable turn: I selected a horse head buckle but only after admiring a monogrammed buckle for several minutes. The owner smiled and said, "You seem to prefer the buckle with a monogram and that is what you should get." With that he led me back to the workshop pulled out a pen and paper and asked for my initials. He said he could have the buckle made in 90 minutes and then directed us to a lovely restaurant to have lunch. When we returned he had the buckle made and signed. Graciously he then helped me to select a leather strap and then sized it for me. Did I mention he did all this during the siesta period when they were closed? In addition to having a uniquely customized and beautiful belt I also took with me a wonderful vacation memory.

San Antonio de Areco is a lovely place to spend a morning or late afternoon. Draghi will be a highlight of your visit!

We got to see the silversmith working, some work in progress, and historical pieces in the museum. I wish our guide had given us more time, but it's very impressive

This fascinating museum is family run and operated featuring some of the best silver smiths in the world. It is truly incredible to see what these artisans can create with their hands and just a few tools...in techniques that are harder to find every day. Get up close and witness craftsmanship at it's finest.

We were in Areco 5 days and this is the best place to shop for silver made items. We bought just a few things and we are very happy with the quality and prices we got for all items. You may shop in confidence, everything will be real silver. And very nice things.
