I spent a little bit over two months learning Spanish with Patrica. Her Spanish classes were great, relaxed and always filled with positivity. Although her classes alone were fantastic the real greatness of her Spanish immersion was the abundance of local knowledge she has and the willingness to help you have the greatest Argentine experience. Through her I was able to play polo and visit numerous special places around the area including a great non touristic estancia where I could enjoy the countryside in the way it should be enjoyed. She knows many of the locals and is always willing to introduce you to local businesses so that you aren’t just another “tourist”.
The town of San Antonia de Areco is a very special place where everyone is friendly and has a variety of activities. It has a lot of historical buildings and restaurants but just 10 minutes away you’re in the heart of the pampas where you can enjoy the country and horses. San Antonio de Areco is well known as the capital of Gaucho tradition and it’s very prevalent when you walk around town. One weekend in November is the biggest festival of the year where you can really experience the culture and tradition of the Gaucho. One key moment of my trip was watching there traditional parade where hundreds of horses and Gauchos roam the streets fully dressed up in traditional clothing and have their horses tacked up with beautiful ornaments.
Overall an amazing trip in a place I will definitely return and much of it due to Patricia and her genuine willingness to help make a great experience.

Working through the 'Living your Spanish' course with Patricia in San Antonio de Areco will always be a highlight from my time South America - quite an achievement considering I travelled to some of the most incredible locations the continent has to offer! I will never forget Patricia, the town and enjoying beautiful sunsets as you pass through the 'campo' with gauchos.
As someone whose education with Spanish had been incredibly informal and theoretical due to the lack of conversational training, Patricia's classes were exactly what I needed. Patricia clearly has a fantastic grasp of the technical aspects of Spanish, but she is never overbearing and always makes you feel like your mistakes are an opportunity for learning, not a failure. Furthermore, the 'Living' part of the class - going out into San Antonio and engaging with people or even just talking to Patricia as a friend - means you will get all the opportunities you need to actually become comfortable with putting into practice the things you have learnt. For a week I essentially had a second life, spending hours upon hours with the gauchos, which is just something that isn't possible on a regular 'holiday'.
By the time I left I was feeling far more confident with my Spanish.

I had a brilliant 4 days (10 hrs in total) learning Spanish with Pato.
First of all Pato is a lovely person, very welcoming, personable and lively. She immediately put me at ease and by the time I left I felt like an extended part of her family.
Secondly, Pato really knows how to teach and has excellent technical knowledge and was able to express that fluently to me in English, which really helped. She used fun and inventive ways to help learn. My favourite was studying verb endings and pronunciation in song lyrics and then singing it together. Chan Chan by Buena Vista Social Club (my choice) has never sounded so good! I just wish I could have stayed longer.
Finally, not only do you get some excellent Spanish lessons but Pato goes out of her way to accommodate you and ensure you enjoy your time in San Antonio de Areco. It was like having a personal concierge, with amazing local tips, introductions, shopping trips and organising tennis and horse riding lessons for me at a very reasonable rate.
Don’t hesitate to choose Pato if you are looking for a fully immersive way to learn Spanish. I enjoyed my time so much in San Antonio de Areco and that was largely thanks to Pato.
Thanks again Pato, I’ve made a new friend and learnt Spanish at the same time.

Pat is not only a great Spanish teacher, but also a really fun person full of joy and energy. I came from Buenos Aires for a three day weekend in charming San Antonio de Areco and thoroughly enjoyed my time. It was a great mix of class time and time in the real world (Living Your Spanish) learning and improving w Pat’s encouragement. Highly recommended!

During my three weeks in San Antonio de Areco I followed daily Spanish classes on week days with Patricia. She is an exceptional teacher. Always happy, well prepared and organised. She’s very funny and speaks English very well (the best I have encountered in Argentina), which all made being her student super easy and fun. She listens to what your preferences are and what you want to achieve and makes your schedule accordingly, but to be honest most of the time she knew what I wanted before I did.
The Spanish lessons truly come to live, which almost makes it feel like you’re not learning. Rather experiencing, even though you are learning a great deal during the experience. Since I was training horses and playing polo everyday I didn’t get to do so many of the other options Patricia offers. If not, I probably would’ve done all of them. We did go shopping, went out for lunch, to a silver smith and to the museum of Gauchesco Ricardo Güiraldes (writer of Don Segundo Sombra). Great ways to experience Argentinian culture.
Patricia really goes above and beyond, trying to make your stay the best as it can be for you personally. I always looked forward to going to her lessons and wish I could’ve stayed longer to learn more from her. Hopefully, we’ll be able to continue online, or maybe someday in real life again.
Thank you for everything, Patricia, you’re a star.

After seeing others' reviews of Living Your Spanish, I reached out to Patricia to see if she might be available for the one day my friend and I were spending in San Antonio de Areco. She was and was a delightful guide to take us around the town. The sites are not much in many ways, but Patricia brought alive all that was special in the history of this town and the pampas area. It was an extraordinary introduction to Argentina!

I was with Patricia for 2 weeks in January 2024 for private lessons. The lessons were well structured and varied. We also communicated a lot and I was able to noticeably improve my modest Spanish level. Patricia is a dynamic teacher, teaching is her passion!
She accompanied me for 2 weeks in San Antonio de Areco and organized various additional activities. I had a wonderful and intensive time and can only recommend Patricia. The combination with horse riding was perfect for me. Thank you Pat!

I’ve spend 3 days learning Spanish with Patricia and it was way too short! She is an amazing teacher, makes the lessons really fun, shares her mate with you and is so lovely. The town of San Antonio the Areco is a really welcoming place. Perfect to practice your Spanish. I went riding with the gauchos and enjoyed the Argentinian pampa whilst putting the lessons of the morning into practice. This is the kind of place you’ll feel so at home, you don’t want to leave! Totally recommend!

The entire experience was fantastic.
5 star.
In every way.
Patricia is communicative, organised and incredibly authentic.
If she says something will happen; it will happen.
I’ve travelled extensively for decades. Patricia is the best that I’ve had the good fortune to meet.
Thank you. ☺️

I recently visited Argentina, and while there, I wanted to spend time in wonderful San Antonio de Areco to study Spanish and to attend the "Day of Traditions Parade." Patricia, a most enthusiastic person, responded promptly. She offered excellent information about "Living Your Spanish" classes, art and bridge classes offered in the town, and the significance and logistics of the parade. She is a great resource of information because she knows everyone in town and everything about the town, including the history of the gauchos.
I was able to join a group who were studying with her. We had a wonderful time studying Spanish both in class and also out and about in town. She introduced us to local restaurants and to local shop owners, such as the mate shop owner and a local silversmith. She arranged a fun-packed private tango lesson for us. She also arranged for us to go to a local farm for horseback riding daily and also for a "farm day" at that farm where we had an asado (barbeque), folk-dancing, music, and a horsemanship skill exhibit. After the group lesson ended, I continued with some private lessons with her.
It was a truly great time for learning and for fun!

Hi senior seniora. We proposing to come tomorrow 3rd of january in San antonio de areco at 12 morning time and we gonna spend 6 hours there. Is it possoble to join at any of your activities? Regards jorje
Written January 3, 2019
Hi Jorje,
the goal of our activities is that our students learn Spanish and some basic vocabulary, grammar and speaking skills are required. Our students learn these during the first week of the course and on their first Friday in Areco or Buenos Aires they, for example, buy groceries, order at a restaurant or visit a silversmith. These are some of the activities we tailor to the interests of our students.
If you would like to learn Spanish with us, please contact us per Email or per telephone and we will be happy to learn about your goals and interests and offer you a course where you will learn Spanish on real-life situations. Our students contact us at least 1-2 weeks in advance.
Regards,
Antonio
