Why to pay !
Feb 2020
I was there, just in front of the rope which close the road. I didn't enter.
I wonder if the Mapuches pay to do the reverse, leave their reserve and go to the public territory of Argentina.
This is a very bad practice and should be banned everywhere.
I have Mapuches friends in Chile, Mapuches you can meet, speak with, eat with, dance and sing with them, without paying a cent.

off the beaten track

Get your taste of adventure deep into Mapuche indian territory. You need either to be taken by someone in the know or else you can visit the first ponds and come back, which is also superb. Ah, a tip: there is a lady at the reserve, you can ask before getting in, that sells homemade bread and local "tortas fritas", a pastry that goes well with a warm drink.

Nice circuit
Jul 2016
This is something to do in a not raining day and not a ski day. The circuit is nice, little tricky for cars but totally worth it

Something different
Feb 2015 • Couples
Once you passed the crossing gate, the road takes you to the five lagoons, although not all of them have a parking place for the cars. The last one is perhaps the most interesting, there is a nice walk from where you leave the car, on the shore, among some really awesome trees. On the road back there is a lakeshore with tables and benches, also some nice grassy spots where fishing is permitted. With luck (and obviously a permit) trouts can be caught. There is an indian house, where some savoury cake specialties are sold, which can be eaten on some of these tables. Beware of the geese, which arrive rushing madly, once they smell any food. The trees in the whole compound are impressive, specially some of the araucarias, apparently more than 1000 years old.

Nice place to visit
Nov 2013 • Couples
This is a short drive from La Angostura where lake Alumine and Moquehue meet. This is mapuche's land, so you need to pay a small contribution. There are5 lagoons that are nice to visit and the road is a gravel roads but it's in good condition. You can see ducks in the lagoons, and horses and cows in the road, so if you like animals, have your camera at hand.
