We used Cal Tur for visiting the glacier from El Calafate 2 days running and also from El Calafate to El Chalten. Each of the departures ran on time and was very comfortable. The day returns to the glacier were booked in the downtown office and we were glad we booked a day ahead as the buses were full on the day. The Calafate to Chalten route I had booked in advance online from the UK and was able to secure front seat, top deck seats,so important for the wonderful views on the 3 hour journey. I was glad I had done this so I could print the tickets at home. I found the internet connection very poor in El Calafate and had read that people struggled to get their online tickets printed out.

We bought our tickets on line, with a credit card, and got reserved seats. The buses are double decker and the seats are comfortable. They recline. The bus left on time both directions and got in early. There is a bathroom on the bus. There is no power. You can get off at the airport or in town coming back from El Chalten.

I have been travelling around Patagonia for a few weeks now, used Cal Tur as I’d pre-booked with them. Generally no complaints - buses ran on time, seats were comfy enough, drivers friendly - all you could ask for. However, I wanted to write a review to highlight how annoying the “only accepts printed hard copy tickets” requirement is. For backpackers travelling in areas with dodgy internet, this is often impossible to abide by. Having to run around the hostel and to various information desks begging they print you a bus ticket is ridiculous. The irony is - the ticket has a q code on it - why? If we aren’t using electronic copies of tickets, why have a q tag? Also - for the afternoon Puerto Moreno glacier tour - pick up at 1pm and return at 9pm is just too long at the glacier. It is gorgeous and interesting, but you don’t need 5 hours looking at ice. 3 hours would be more than enough.

We booked a trip to the Perito Moreno glacier and return bus tickets from El Calafate to El Chalten. Booking it all together saved us some money which made it the best value we came across. The glacier trip worked well and the 9am to 4pm timings gave us the perfect amount of time in the National Park. The bus picked us up from our hostel and let us store our luggage in their office for the day so we could catch the evening us to El Chalten. The buses were all on time, clean and comfortable. We decided to change our plans while in El Chalten and changing our tickets was no problem. The bus back also dropped us at the airport meaning we didn’t have to get an additional transfer. We would definitely use their services again.

We booked transport from El Calafate to the Perito Moreno glacier. Getting reservations when simply enough, but they told us to be ready for a pick up at 8 am. Forty-five minutes later we call them and they tell us the bus drove by and we weren't there. We saw a Cal Transport bus go by, but it didn't even slow down or stop. They finally came at 9:15. The bus itself was fine, customer service was poor. The Perito Moreno glacier is beautiful, but they give you a bit too much time between drop off and pick up.
