What a climb! I went there without guide even tough it's advisable to have a guide. Crampons is a must, a rope & harness advisable. It's quite steep to go up and reach the glacier but not that steep on the glacier. You cross private land. It might be free if you stay at Piedra del Fraile (maybe). If you don't stay there you have to pay a fee for sure. Camped there once and went back another time when the weather was better (great day trip, cycling from El Chalten, going up to Paso Cuadrado & cycling back - assures a great sleep after a long day... First time there was one girl with guide there, second time nobody!

We had booked the ascent of Cerro Gorra Blanca. After a first night at La Playita, we decided with our guide Nico to change our plans because the weather was'nt good. Nico offered us the opportunity to go to Paso del Cuadrado. It was amazing, a spectacular views of Fitz Roy, Guillaumet, Aguja Pollone and glaciers...
When we came back in El Chalten, we enjoyed climb a beautifull wall. It was a fabulous first experience for me and my wife...
We had a great time with our guide: a very interesting guy.
Patagonia magica Staff, Sabrina, Marcelo, Nico are friendly and very professional.
Furthermore Marcelo and Nico speak a really good French. It was very appreciable for us.
