Absolute trip of a lifetime! 100% would recommend this trip to anyone looking for a ski adventure in Argentina. I hope I'm lucky enough to come back for a future trip. Everything was well organized, but with built in flexibility based on weather and snow conditions. Despite a lower than average snow year, we had excellent snow conditions ranging from corn skiing all the way to a bluebird powder day skiing below the Fitz Roy. Merlin Lipshitz was our guide in Ushuaia and Martin Castrillo in El Chaltèn. Both were incredibly knowledgeable about the terrain and skilled ski guides. I can unequivocally state we were able to ski more terrain and with better conditions by hiring guides - especially in the Chaltèn area where local knowledge is paramount. Our time in El Chaltèn was pretty stormy and Martin did an excellent job adjusting locations, interpreting the weather forecasts (which are minimal in the area), and assessing the avy hazard. Thank you Mountaineering Patagonia!

We had an amazing ski trip in Patagonia! Merlin and Martin are exceptional ski guides and we got to ski a lot more terrain than if we had gone on our own. They did a great job adapting our trip plan to the ever changing Patagonia weather. Would highly recommend to anyone considering an adventurous ski trip in Patagonia

My three friends and I had an incredible experience with Mountaineering Patagonia. We did the Huemul Trek with our guides, Diego and Leo. Even though we had to come back a day early due to weather, we did the Fitz Roy hike instead and had a great time. Three of the four of us were novice backpackers, and Leo and Diego’s guidance allowed us to enjoy the trek and complete it successfully. Leo was extremely accommodating, always checking to make sure he was going at a good pace and making sure to stop for water breaks when we were huffing and puffing up a steep hill. We always felt safe on the trek thanks to Leo and Diego’s expertise, and we loved the excellent food they brought and the never-ending supply of tea! They were also great company on the trek – we all had a lot of fun joking around and taking pictures with the breathtaking scenery. The whole experience was definitely the adventure my friends and I were looking for! I would highly recommend Mountaineering Patagonia and Leo and Diego to anyone looking to trek in El Chalten.

Great experience with Mountaineering Patagonia for a ski touring hut trip of Frey and Jakob huts out of Bariloche, Argentina. I booked with guide and operator Merlin and went on the tour with guide Lucas and we joined forces with another small guided group.

We were able to go to some very remote places, ski some great lines. The guides were very skilled and knowledgable.

Its not cheap, but these are IFMGA guides and very skilled. I would recommend highly and I hope to return to Argentina for skiing again in the future. I would hope to ski out of Chalten and would definitely use Mountaineering Patagonia again.

Looking for a new backcountry ski adventure to a wild and remote place? Want the comfort of a sailboat to return to every day? Ski first descents? Experience the beauty of massive glaciers, fjords and mountains as far as the eye can see? Check, check, check and check. This was my second trip with Merlin and Patagonia Mountaineering and won't be my last. This trip delivered everything that an expedition can deliver while all the time under the careful guidance of Merlin and Sebastian. Plus, a shout-out to Capitan Micki and the Kostas!

Way more than a ski trip and way more than a sailing trip. This is a bucket-list trip that should be on every ski mountaineering adventurer’s list.

I had three amazing days with Mountaineering Patagonia, Juan was the perfect guide making it feel very fun, exciting and safe to take on the challenge to reach both Cerro Madsen and Mojon Rojo. It's the kind of experience that makes you smile from inside and out, when you have an awesome time in the mountains. I can highly recommend the company and Juan as a guide, everything was very professional, well planned and adapted to my wishes. Also communication with the company was very good with quick replies.

My wife and I did the base camp trek in November 2019 with Cesar as our guide and it was absolutely brilliant. According to another guide we encountered along the way Cesar was the best mountaineering guide in the whole of South America and I'd be inclined to agree with him. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and had a lot of interesting and fun stories about Patagonia and other parts of Argentina. He was also very skilled on the track and when we left the main track to find an alternative route over a pass we both felt very safe having him leading us.

Merlin was also great organising Cesar as our guide, especially as it was at such short notice and also modifying the route so that we would arrive at windy pass in clear weather to get a good view of the ice fields and this worked out brilliantly as we had perfect clear skies and could see for miles across the ice fields.

Some might think the trek was on the expensive side, but these guys are a really professional outfit and the quality of the product was matched by the price. If we ever get back to El Chalten we'd almost certainly be getting in touch with Merlin again to organise another trip.

We had an incredible experience summitting Cerro Electrico with Mountaineering Patagonia! The entire team was communicative and kind throughout the whole process, and our guide Juan was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and fun during the climb. We felt completely comfortable and safe throughout the experience, and the views of Monte Fitz Roy and the surrounding area were amazing! Strongly recommend booking with Mountaineering Patagonia.

We had a great day and reached the Cerro Eléctrico with Juan, our mountain guide. As we were spending several days in El Chaltén, we were able to postpone the ascent to the best day in terms of weather and conditions on the mountain. Their great flexibility showed us that our satisfaction was very important to them.
They are very profesional and kind and Juan is a super experienced mountain guide.

Excellent trip with Merlin. I had actually booked a 2 day climb of Mojon Rojo but the weather forecast dictated that we move the trip so I only had 1 day. Merlin suggested we could do Cerro Electrico in 1 day and what a great suggestion that was. Very early start in the dark but the day dawned bright and blue. Cerro Electrico is a long day but easily achievable by anyone who has some snow experience. The views at the top were some of the most magnificent I have seen. You feel like you could reach out and touch Cerro Fitzroy! Merlin was fantastic fun throughout and I felt very safe. I would definitely book with Merlin again if I ever get to come back to El Chalten.
