Nice view point on the way to Fitz Roy
Jan 2020
Stopped here for a few minutes on the way to Fitz Roy. It’s a nice view, but certainly not the most amazing glacier in the area.

Lovely viewpoint on El Pilar hike
Mar 2019 • Couples
We hiked from the El Pilar hostel to FitzRoy as our host told me that the views are beautiful and it’s easier. This viewpoint is lovely and you see FitzRoy all the way. This hike later joins at Poincenot. It was fairly easy to do.

Picture perfect
Jan 2019 • Couples
We were fortunate to have a clear sunny day to capture this along the track at the mirador spot. We drove our car from El Chalten to the hostel at the start of the track. It follows the river and is quite shady in the woodlands. A bit of climbing but lovely vistas and this one is about half along.

A nice addition to the main trail to Laguna de Los Tres.
Dec 2018 • Couples
If you are hiking to Laguna de Los Tres from El Chalten, this is a nice little addition to the hike. Once you have come down from the Laguna, make this detour and have lunch at the Mirador in front of the glaciar. The detour will only add about 6 kilometres to the hike.

Stunning.
Nov 2017
A great reason to turn the Laguna de los Tres/FitzRoy hike into a loop instead of an in-and-out: You get to see this magnificent glacier. Take the shuttle to Hotel Pilar and start your hike from there, and this glacier will come up on your right. I got giddy just looking at it. It's really quite a sight.

Spectacular hanging glacier.
Oct 2017 • Couples
This hanging glacier can be seen from the path between El Pilar Hostel and Poincenot Camp. It is on the other side of the valley, with Rio Blanco between the path and the glacier. I had not seen a hanging glacier before, as most have retreated many years ago, so it was very exciting to see this one and it did not disappoint; especially as the sun finally decided to make a long-awaited appearance as we were approaching it. Although there is an official "mirador", you can see the glacier from several different viewpoints along at least 2km of the path. This can be combined with going to see Mount Fitzroy, which is beginning to appear above this glacier, weather permitting. The glacier is clearly on the move, which is confirmed by the occasional thunderous noise, as pieces break off it.

Great hike, fantastic views
Feb 2017 • Friends
If you are able to drive/cycle/hitch/walk about 15km towards Lsgo Desierto, this is a moderately easy hike of a few hours return, showing you a fantastic view of this beautiful glacier. Definitely a must see

Not on the usual trail... You can go all the way till the lake & go quite close to the glacier... It's on the way from Poincenot to Piedra del Fraile, might officialy be closed but I'm not sure...

A view along the way to Laguna de los Tres
Mar 2016 • Couples
Our first stop from the El Pilar trailhead. What an awesome sight! It had rained the night before, but upon leaving El Pilar early morning, the sun was shinning and it was cyrstal clear. We enjoyed our hike and the views kept getting better and better along the way.

Receding but still impressive!

This glacier descends off a shoulder of Monte Fitzroy and ends in a tumble of blue sera sera above the small lake. Spectacular views can be had from easy-to-reach viewpoints along the trail.
