A great place for a beach walk. You can walk for a long ways and sit in the dunes and soak up a bit of sun if you get tired. It is usually windy, however, so bring something to cover up with. The view is amazing. Looking down the Lake you are looking at the route many of the gold miners took during the Klondike Gold Rush. At the other end of the lake, they built their ramshackle boats and started down the river system to Dawson. The town they built during the winter disappeared almost overnight. Walk the Chilkoot Trail if you want to see what is left.

This is a large, long sandy beach with shallow, clean water and beautiful mountain views. The water warms up by last week or so of July and through August. It's still too cold for some, but kids love it. Near by is the Carcross Commons with a coffee shop and other shops of interest (food, ice cream, souvenirs and crafts, the Skookum Jim house with its historic museum).

This beach is clean and well kept. A nice place to picnic and less then an hour from Whitehorse. It is on the way to Carcross trading post and a great stop of a quick picnic or a day spend. There is a a toilet and a few picnic benches.

This is an odd picture for this spot. The mural is actually on a building in Whitehorse and has nothing to to with Bennett Beach!!
However-the beach is kept clean and recently, there has been a nice deck with tables and toilets added. A lovely spot for a summer afternoon

We'd read that it was ranked one of the 10 best beaches in Canada, so we made a point of stopping to visit.

We couldn't find any signs to the beach but it's only a minute walk behind the post office. We went on a weekday afternoon and it was quite quiet. The beach was lovely, the water warm and the view.... amazing.

The water did not get deep for quite a distance - perfect for our 6 year old who is still learning to swim. He enjoyed the water, then made moats in the sand followed by looking for sea creatures washed up on the beach.

It was a perfect place to spend an afternoon away from the planes, trains and automobiles of a holiday.

Before we knew it, the afternoon was over and it was time to reluctantly go.

Helpful Hints
- i'm not sure where/if there are changerooms at the beach. Maybe you need to change in the washroom at the Commons? We simply wore our shorts.
- Same with washrooms
- it was surprising hot on the beach... hence making the water feel more refreshing

Honestly, I live in Whitehorse and had no idea that we had such a wonderful beach so close to home. We went on a spectacular day and the water was even warm enough to dip in. The sand is nice and there is ice cream near by. Parking is very close. A great place to bring family and friends.

Latrines ans small deck available, this sandy beach offer quietness on the shore of lake Bennett. Can be really windy at times, cause the wind comes from Skagway Alaska and pick-up speed on this very long lake.

A broad, sandy beach on Bennett Lake, in the tiny village of Carcross. It's a lovely beach. There's a viewing platform. Walk the beach, if you like. That's it.

Definitely one of my favourite places in the Yukon. We originally went through Carcross on a cloudy day but came back with clear skies. The blue skies make all the difference. You could see the beautiful mountains in the background, very picturesque. Would definitely come back!
