About
Dairy sheep grazing in the pasture; a cheese factory based on fine craftsmanship; a northern organic vineyard; and a distillery that uses its whey. Following the natural rhythm of the seasons, we value each step of the agricultural cycle with a humble and yet innovative eye.

In 1995, Maurice Dufour created handcrafted local products - Migneron and its four contemporaries, Mi-CarĂŞme, Pied de Vent, Victor and Berthold and Lechevalier-Mailloux created a desire for local products in Quebec and Canada. Mr. Dufour is proud that Le Migneron is as well known in Quebec, as the classics like cheddar and Oka.

This shop is actually the fromagerie of the Le Migneron cheese brand. It's an interesting stop and you can see the wheels of cheese aging in the cellar. But the best part are the free samples of their many excellent cheeses and the opportunity to buy them at "factory direct" prices. As an American, I find much of the cheese in Charlevoix (and Canada in general) to be expensive and not all that great. Le Migneron is the exception: they make great cheese and it's very affordable at their shop. A must stop for cheese lovers driving the highway from Baie-St-Paul to Le Malbaie.

Located on Route 138, 6 km from downtown Baie-St-Paul, going east toward La Malbaie, La Maison D'Affinage Maurice Dufour Inc is a nice destination for gourmets and cheese lovers. We found it on our way to Tadoussac and were very impressed about location, warm people and the tasting cheeses and wines.

We arrived in a rainy day with almost nobody in the shop. The girl managing the sales, Mireille, was just amazing. We tasted all of their cheeses and then she was so nice to let us try some wine and spirits made in the farm. The idea of using buttermilk to make spirit is so cool. We bought with pleasure a big slice of cheese, and I recommend this place to everybody loving good food and nice human beings!

Great cheese! This place is easy to find with a big archway that you can't miss. I will go back again next time I'm in the area and will be sure to buy a lot more cheese then!

The cheese and the wine we bought there were great. They also have a restaurant, which we unfortunately were unable to visit.

If you are in the area make sure to stop and taste some of the cheeses and ask about the vines available. Le Migneron ( cheese ) is excellent.
