If you arrive by road from Esfahan you can't fail to miss this huge gate on the right hand side just before you enter the city of Shiraz. I made a special trip out there, walking from the centre, to have another look. During Nowruz the entire area is quite crowded with local families but there's a good atmosphere. The... More

This gate is located at the entrance of Shiraz city from Isfahan, I mean when you come to Shiraz by bus or care from Isfahan city, it's the first place you go by in Shiraz.

The idea of this gate being a place to get a blessing as you head off on your travels (I think that was/is the idea!) is great, and the gate itself is very impressive. Look out for the waterfalls that are up in the hills around it too.

Qur'an Gate used to be the entrance of the city but not anymore. It feels a bit sad and down specially there was some construction going on during our visit. Our hotel was just next to this gate so we got it passed quite a few times. Its an old gate and needs to be looked after better than this... More

A gate that use to mark the only entrance into the city. I saw this whilst heading to persepolis and necropolis. It does have a nice park nearby...the gate itself is not that huge as I've imagined it to be. There is a Qoran kept on the top of the gate which is now in Pars museum..
