This is the Sahespeare Centre for Wales and is set in an idyllice location. Centrepiece is an outdoor recreation in living willow of the Globe in London, albeit at a smaller scale. In addition to Shaespeare plays the there are many other events from spring to autumn. Children's events are arranged and there is a wildlife trail. The theatre is powered by eco-electricity, parking is free and events are accompanied by food and drink. In the event of rain there is a barn where productions continue.
There is a resident company of actors and there are visiting companies in addition. There are also musical and poetical performances and the principals, Sue Best and Phil Bowen are helpful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable.

The Willow Globe Theatre, a few short miles from Rhayader and Llandrindod Wells, is a 'must go to' if you're in the area whilst they are putting on a show.
The Theatre itself is just what it says on the can, a living willow version of the original Globe Theatre, scaled down and set in the heart of the Welsh Countryside.
It also has indoor space in a converted barn, should the weather be inclement.
It has a resident company of actors, enthusiastic, talented and innovative, and it gives space to visiting Theatre Companies, of all types and size, to put on their Shakespeare based performances. In addition to this it also runs groups, workshops and the like which are attended by groups from all over the country.
Watching a performance here is magical, punctuated by the sound of sheep in the surrounding fields, and with cushions for the wooden benches, and midge spray and wipes in season provided for the audience. It has a 'hard core' audience, who are as enthusiastic as the players, with the evenings feeling, possibily, more like an original performance of Shakespeare plays than any you will get in a more formal setting. With audience participation, cheers, boos and catcalls, it is a joy.
I'e thoroughly enjoyed the performances that I've seen here, and it is a welcoming and peaceful place, with walks through the fields to be had, a decent enough little bar and teas, coffees, cakes and soup and rolls to be enjoyed at most performances.

...and it was absolutely wonderful: to see my twin 3 year olds and my 5 year old play and read and act was truly wonderful. My son played Benvolio and loved it.

This is a sacred and much loved place. I suggest if you are in the area you must go.
