About
Dear Traveler / visitor/ person looking for something to do, Theatr Gwaun is an Independent Theatre, Cinema, Bar and Cafe in Fishguard, North Pembrokeshire. It's been a place for entertainment since 1885 when it was built as a Temperance Hall, becoming one of the first cinema's in Wales in the early 1920's. We're an intimate venue of only 180 seats and a single Cinema screen, but we're equipped to be able to accommodate the highest level of professional theatre and live music, and our 4K resolution, Dolby surround sound digital cinema system is a match for any screen in the country. Search our website for events. Most of all though, we're a friendly lot and like nothing better than to meet new people for a chat and to show off our venue! So if you're in the area, please call in and we'll give you a tour. Feel free to send me an email about anything you like using the listed email with FAO Paul in the title. Best Wishes, Paul Theatre Manager

Another great visit
Jul 2019
Love coming here when I'm in Fishguard. Entry prices are very competitive, food and drink are very reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and helpful. Seats are fairly comfortable and the picture and audio quality (which I can be fairly fussy about) are pretty near faultless. All in all it's my favourite cinema to visit and I can't fault the experience. Keep up the great work!

Great cinema, clean, tidy, 4k screen and bags of sweets at tesco prices!
What more could you want. A real credit to the volunteers!

Magnificent old time theatre and cinema to boot

I love Theatr Gwaun (Fishguard theatr.) It may not be an Odeon or a multiplex, has only 1 screen but it is a charming reminder of local initiative. Because they are limited to 1 screen films may be a little late arriving but the popular ones always do. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the tickets are dirt cheap, pop corn and other items are good value. Local productions from musical theatre to amateur dramatics, summer schools, youth theatre and pantomimes we are so very lucky to have it

Theatre through the Ages

Best Foot Forward put on one of their regular performances on two nights last weekend, which was very funny in places. They are a small local group of mixed ages and abilities. One downside is not being able to hear all of them. Unfortunately the Friday night was not very well attended and this must affect the actors. I heard it was better on the Saturday from supporters who went both nights.

Trip to the Cinema
Nov 2018 • Solo
Plenty of comfortable seats. Booking is advisable if you want a special seat, particularly for really popular films or shows. It is a lovely place and puts on shows as well as up to date films. If you have limited mobility it is possible to come in on the level from the back of the theatre. Staff are very friendly and most are volunteers. There is a small shop selling sweets etc and a cosy little bar.

Old cinema charm meets state of the art sound and vision; lovely staff. Great to find such a venture. Theatr Gwaum is a place we visit every time we visit this part of Wales.

This place is a national treasure, never mind the modern multiplex cinema's, we saw Hotel Transylvania 3, thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Staff are amazingly friendly, the place is brilliant, well done to the volunteers who keep it going.

I went with four friends to see Mama Mia 2 and we booked our tickets because we wanted to be able to sit together. When we arrived at Theatr Gwaun the queue was long but we got in line because no one knew what was happening. Asking at the desk just resulted in an off-hand wave. Anyway, we found a woman who had a list of pre-booked orders and were told that most of the seats had gone! Apparently they had been selling tickets on the desk but had not kept tabs on the numbers. We were lucky, we got in but others were turned away. We also managed to get seats near each other but not together but we did get in!

It was a very warm night and this was a full house with no air-con. The bar was open but we couldn't find soft drinks or popcorn. All in all, chaos. Very different from our visit the week before to Theatr Mwldan, assigned seats, great choice of snacks and most of all air-con!

Lovely little cinema, well priced family ticket...

Spent an enjoyable couple of hours here watching The Incredibles 2 with my family. Very well priced family ticket, all the usual popcorn and sweets but also a glass of wine, a beer, or a filter coffee... Recommended...
