I get why Maho Beach is such a tourist attraction, but honestly...why would people do that to themselves? You've read the schtick...stand on the beach and get blasted by jet engines into the water. Sounds fun, but really you are volunteering to get your skin sandblasted. It's crazy. While we were watching, outside the blast area, we saw the door... More

Great spot to watch airplanes come and go. The going ones will blast you with sand and Jet-A fumes. The coming ones will swoosh right over your head. Excellent picture opportunities, and several spots to get your throat wet around it. As a beach, it's so so. Don't expect peaceful sunbathing. Don't expect cleanness, the cruise ship-based island rapists come... More

Go for the planes and the attraction, not for the beach. It is small and very crowded and the waves were huge washing up to the road while we were there. The planes are what this place is all about. Too bad KLM stopped the 747 on this route, but Air France still has the A340

Stopped on a shore excursion. The tour guide left us off since there had been a storm and the road was blocked with sand. We walked up to the beach area and only saw one small plane come in and had to head back to return to the pier to get on board our ship.

I get it...kind of. My young adult kids 18 and 20 wanted to do this and so we went over there to watch the other idiots. Against my objections, my kids did this but we're off to the side enough to satisfy my maternal caution (my son had already stepped on a sea urchin). We watched a jet take off... More

Although beach is crowded and rocky, but is unique as it is right at the beginning of the Airplane runway. We enjoyed large and small planes landing just a few feet above. Good place to spend couple of hours, have a drink, take pictures and enjoy wonderful Caribbean water.

This beach was the reason for our vacation. I'm fascinated with airplanes and flying. I wanted to experience the planes landing, basically, on my head! What a thrill it was! My husband and I stayed at Sonesta Ocean Point that is right on Maho Beach so we had a great view of the planes the week we were there. Put... More

The beach is a tourist place, must see to experience the low flying planes. You can park nearby, buy a drink at Sunset bar and get your parking ticket validated. After 2:00 is when the larger planes tend to fly in. There are other nicer beaches. But this is the one that everyone talks about. Go at least once to... More

We spent an afternoon here by catching a taxi from our cruise ship. We had a great time watching the planes come in low sitting in a nearby bar drinking cocktails capturing some great photographs. Would recommend a visit. If you want to sunbathe get there early
