Called in on Saturday for a light lunch. Was REALLY disappointed. All they had on offer was soup or sandwiches or toasties or baked potatoes. All had really basic fillings - just cheese, not with pickle or chutney or tomato; just tomato; just ham; just tuna etc. We decided on baked potato as it was a cold, wet day and... More

Beautiful time of year to visit. Variety of garden layouts including walled garden and various woodland walks with bird hide. Its a National Trust venue however you only pay for the gardens unless you are a member. Car park free and some woodland walks free. Cafe excellent although a little on the high aide compared to other places locally. Very... More

Second visit to Threave Gardens and even in the rain it does not disappoint. I spent only two hours here and managed only a small section. Plants of every size and colour. A great place to photograph flowers. Ate lunch at the cafe. I assume food made on premises. Best scones this year, scones are such an individual choice. Would... More

The daffodils in spring are truly stunning and I love Threave at this time of year. Although I now live in London I always time my visits to coincide with the daffodils! Beautiful

The gardens offer free wheelchair use. It is an old style with wee wheels so we could only manage the tarmac areas which at this time of years every little to see. Access to the glasshouse was flaggged as wheel chair friendly but was along loose gravel and only one way in and one way out. Cafe nice food but... More

Threave estate is in beautiful area of Galloway and has the house and Gardens plus a castle ( well worth a visit). The gardens are well maintained and the visitor centre is well run and has a large restaurant. Alternative café arrangements have been provided in the stables and this area is more in fitting with the estate. Good atmosphere... More

Was passing by and decided to pop in - so pleased we did. It's a National Trust of Scotland property and my National Trust of England pass was readily accepted. The gardens are stunning and so beautifully kept. They're also huge so you could easily spend a whole day here. The shop staff were very welcoming and knowledgable. The restaurant... More
