We had a really fantastic time here. No children with us but can see why children love it. Beautiful location and a warm welcome from the animal - loving owners. We visited a while ago but still talk about this place quite often. Wonderful close contact with a great selection of animals, and the eagle owl presented to us at the end had me in tears - the sheer wonder and beauty of him was overwhelming! What a privilege to be able to stroke an eagle owl. Fantastic memories and would strongly recommend a visit to anyone who loves animals and birds.

This was our third visit - we try to visit every year with our grandchildren - now aged 5 & 3.
The owners continue to work very hard to keep going and you can't fault their enthiusiasm. They clearly love their animals and care for them very well. They are always very welcoming and interact well with children.
There is a baby alpaca due very soon.
New polecats this year too which were very entertaining to watch.
Please support Monreith Animal World if you are in the area - as others have said - don't be put off by the exterior - this is very much a personal venture.

After initial misgivings due to a slightly disheveled exterior we had a brilliant morning here. The owners were incredibly friendly and clearly care deeply about animals. It was a very hands on experience and the pre-teen in our group was delighted to be able to pet the rabbits, guinea pigs, donkeys and the fabulous eagle owl, not to mention having her first pony ride (for no extra charge). I would definitely recommend supporting this small business.

we bring our grandchildren every year for a visit, and have been coming for the past 8 years, we are always warmly welcomed, and the lady who owns it, takes time to show you around, tells you about her animals, then you can wander around to look as long as you like. Its a small family run place, and deserves to have more people visit. Its a little bit of the beaten track, and I think that's why lots of people don't know about it. It is a good way for children to see the animals, as you can pet some of them, we always take carrots, as the donkeys and horses love them.

We visited with our 11-year old who had the best time petting horses, donkeys, rabbits, guinea pigs and dogs. There are loads of different hens and ducks and alpacas. The owners are very friendly - and interesting. The animals are well loved and well cared for. Fresh eggs are available from a little on site shop along with other crafts. Visit today for the three of us - two adults and one child - was £13 which was great value. Great time had by all with lovely walk around the pond on a beautiful spring day.

This is fantastic little business, extremely friendly and knowledgeable owner who quite clearly loves the animals! We were given a great guided tour round and was fantastic to get hands on with the animals. Loved seeing Angus the eagle owl and the baby donkey. Definitely worth a visit to this place if you like animals and like to get up close and personal with them!!

My wife is great at unearthing hidden gems and this is definitely one of those.
It’s delightfully homespun and held together by the love for animals the owners have. They run at a loss so the more who visit the better!
We had an animal by animal tour combined with the ability to wander freely also. Our 6yr old loved it, especially being able to stroke the beautiful Eagle Owl.
London Zoo it is not. But that is not a bad thing. We like both :-)

This is more of the owners hobby or love of animals as apposed to an animal park. The owners show you around some cages with birds and small caged animals in first. Then directed to a nice circular walk passing donkeys, owls, chickens and birds and alpacas. Route ends with the owner showing a lovely eagle owl. A lot of effort from the owners and quite cheap only £14 for out party of 2 adults and 3 children. Toilet facilities but a little run down as is the reception area but worth a visit.

Very small but well worth a stop if only for the donkey who acts as a door bell! All sorts of chickens, ducks, donkeys and creatures all in beautiful countryside and lovely owners. We particularly enjoyed watching the pole cats playing

On a wet Monday morning , six year old daughter , 82 year old mother in law , we arrived !
Opened up for us , made all of us feel if we were family coming to visit . Amazingly interesting insight and discussion about all kinds of animals . Our daughter is usually really shy but had a great time and grew in confidence , nothing was to much trouble and the animals were all characters !!!

We met a wonderful grey horse in the barn and he really took to us. Such a beautiful specimen. Can’t for the life of me remember his name. I remember Vinnie the bird, by reception, and Angus, the amazing owl, but not the horse’s name. Any ideas? Such a great place to visit. Hopefully we’ll return soon.

Anyone know if dogs are allowed in on leads? :)
Written September 7, 2018
I doubt it as some animals are roaming free. It’s very compact though so your dog will see you from the car whilst you potter about. It’s great fun!

It’s a bit of an anomaly... lady who runs it is quite cavalier and unique! There’s no price list! We did the tour and animal handling (for 4 of us!) and the owner spent a couple of hours with us in total. When it was over we asked how much and she told us £12 😳. We gave her £20 as it was well worth it. Don’t wear good clothes if you’re going either but it’s soooo worth it - even if only to see the donkeys 😍
