Nice old barn
Aug 2021
A fascinating survivor from the medieval times. The timber beams and the old brickwork are a joy to study.

medieval barn

Empty medieval barn with an information board on the inside. Free to enter as that is all there is to it.

Barn
Aug 2021
Very old barn but the information is interesting to read nothing inside but lovely to see how they looked and how it is still standing.

Cool down on a hot day
Aug 2021
Just pop in for a few minutes to read the board and look around. Not much to see, really, but it is free and a lovely example of a tithe barn.

Free to enter, a good example of a Tithe Barn with the clear roof spans and open wooden roof on view.

Beautiful roof, how did they build it?
Jun 2021
A lovely building witha wonderful roof that took a master to build. Strange angle of the end wall maybe to accommodate the raod outside.

Not to be missed!

The tithe barn is one of many historical buildings that feature in this delightful village. It is locked in time and not surprising that many historical films are shot here. Not to be missed.

The Tithe Barn
Jul 2019
This magnificent piece of architecture is one of those things that you have to see to believe... The caepentry and engineering within the ceiling is unbelievable, as is its history.... The barn is just another jewel within the whole town of Lacock... A must see for anyone who likes Medieval or Historical locations.

We were on a day tour from London and one of the stops was Lacock and our guide walked us through town and gave us the history. The tithe barn was first constructed in the 14th Century and more than likely was attached to the abbey wall. There is a board inside the barn that explains the history. It's worth taking a look if you're walking around Lacock, which is an interesting town and buildings have been used in many movies - Downton Abbey, Harry Potter, and Pride and Prejudice to name a few.

Visited on passing by!

To be truthful, I did not know about the barn and only discovered it whist walking past! It is a truly impressive building that is full of 'not very much'. There is an information board that adds much more interest to the casual visitor. I have seen a number of these Tythe barns over the years and would say that this one is in very good condition. Someone said in a review that they had a guide who really helped to 'bring the barn to life'. I missed out on that one, but would join a tour if I was there and found one. Easy access with care for those less able.
