This is a large and beautiful loch with many possible walks that enable spectacular views. We walked in this vicinity on three occasions during our recent stay in Gairloch, including a circular walk up to and taking in Victoria Falls, and a shoreline walk on the side of the loch. We also enjoyed Loch Maree from the roadside vista just outside Poolewe. It is a wonderful location for walking and photography. It also has a fascinating history that is well worth researching.

Stunning scenery and the water was great for both swimming and kayaking. We were actually here as a family with our six year old and he really enjoyed it too. Plenty places along the banks for him to play. Lots of nature to see and the minnows were there in their thousands so he loved that. Midges we’re terrible though

If you are looking to kayak here then it’s an absolute gem. At the southern end is a cluster of islands which are great to paddle around from a very convenient car park and a few beaches for lunch there as well so perfect. Good luck.

The information we were given was not really correct. For visitors, better print a concise brochure.

Spent two amazing hours on this trip from the Loch Maree Hotel. We visited Isle Maree where we placed a coin in the Wishing Tree and were told all the history of one of the magical islands on the lake. There are 30 Islands on the Loch and our guide was really knowledgeable telling us all about them whilst we travelled around the loch in a small motorised boat. A wonderful adventure.

Very nice walks with great views around the loch. Good parking spaces, paths well defined, some paths are easy, other more difficult, one is even accessible to wheelchairs. Views on the loch were superb.

I stopped at the Beinn Eighe Visitor Center while driving from Inverness. This is one of the most scenic drives I've ever done, and the prettiest loch in Scotland.

parked in the car park off the road "Slattadale" i think it was called and started walking, we didn't see another person the whole time we were walking which was lovely and meant for complete peacefulness in this beautiful area. the scenery is breathtaking and even with the odd hail storm it meant for some amazing photographs!! definitely worth a visit if your in the area

My husband and I stayed in the nearby village of Poolewe. Each day we would drive past and along Loch Maree. It's hard to believe that there is a more beautiful place on earth. So worth the drive if you're in The Scottish Highlands! Although on the west coast it's worth the drive if you're any place in The Highlands!!
