This museum's collection is as higgldy piggldy as you'd expect. From a full size lighthouse light to boats, stuffed animals, a replica croft and a village shop to a modern art exhibition displaying some brilliant works by Gillian Penney. The quiz is perfect for kids - kept our one interested for over an hour. Enjoy!

We visited the museum on a recent holiday - we were welcomed by a friendly lady who gave my children (aged 11 & 8) the 2 age related quizzes to do which made the visit even more interesting for them as they loved looking for the information they needed. It was a fascinating history of life in the area over... More

An interesting museum of highland life around the area of Gairloch and Loch Ewe. Some trully delightful exhibits. Good for a rainy day.

Good place to visit and find out more about Scottish crofting life. Activities for younger children but interesting for all age groups.

This museum is a credit to all those who have had a part in its development. Although small, it covers many aspect of the history and life of the area and really added to our visit.

A tiny museum, set up very carefully and with lots of love to details. You take a journey into the past and can magine the teacher in the classroom or the person selling products in the grocery store. Definitely worthwile a short stop when travelling on the A832 from Ullapool to the Isle of Skye (o vice vers, of course!)

I visited the Museum last week - it's really great. Such a lot of exhibits, material, information, especially for a small community. I think most of the input is from volunteers, so they have done a fantastic job. They are hoping to build a new and larger Museum when they can get the funding, and then it will be even... More

Having MacKenzie ancestry from croft 26, Strath, Gairloch, I was visiting with my parents on Wednesday 13 July. A lot of very relevant information from literary, photographic and actual objects are arranged very well for the visitor. However the cashier (I do not know what their full title is but the person dealt with the sale of tickets) would drum... More

Thank you for your review. I am glad you enjoyed the museum and found so much information that interested you. I am sorry you found the behaviour of our volunteer and the music off putting. Some visitors love to hear the traditional music, and so we do struggle to please everyone on that front. All of our volunteers who man... More
