Walked across the river at low tied and enjoyed exploring especially the abandoned church but watch the tied as it comes in fast and it’s a long walk around.

It is accessed from the sand dunes on the south bank. A fairly easy walk up hill, it provides excellent views of Alnmouth and surrounding countryside on a clear day.

Fascinating history, excellent climb and lovely views. Just don't try and ford the Aln as we did, even at low tide!

Can be accessed from the dunes, south of the village down a very rocky bridleway. Old church now roofless but you get the feel of the old Northumbria. Easy climb, if reasonably active

On St Oswald's way/Northumberland Coastal Path is this Cross on a hill top overlooking Alnmouth. Its a canny walk but the view to it is worth every step. The attached URL tell's you why it's there but any visitor in search of "Holy" Northumberland should...More
