Hidden gem
Oct 2019 • Family
Me and my wife went out to a tapas bar with my grandchildren, afterwards they suggested we meet the rest of the family at the beer house, I was very impressed how big the bar was, I think it had about 20 beers you could try, I chose a very nice one, you can also try a taster which my daughter chose with 3 1/3 of a pint samples so you can get an idea what you want . My wife who is a coeliac also had a choice of gluten free beers so I will definitely visit again.

One Rule for some and not the others.
Sep 2019 • Family
Visited with my Family for my Niece's 14th Birthday, having a drink before our meal at 6pm. Couldn't believe what we were told on arrival, No under 18s. BUT - inside clearly was a toddler of about 1years. We asked the guy behind the bar if we could come in as we had noticed the toddler, he said No. on popping inside for the ladies, the said toddler was creating and squealing which I can certainly say my 14 year old does not do. Please if a rule is there, make it the same rule for all. Not impressed.

Another great evening at the beerhouse

We've been here multiple times and it's always consistent. The choice of beer is always great. There's also non alcoholic and other alcoholic drinks available, juices, wine prosecco etc. But most of all the atmosphere is warm and friendly. No piped music, just conversation. Appeals mostly to people over 40 probably but there are younger people around. Love it 👍👍

Brilliant Beer Selection
May 2019 • Friends
Called in for a couple of pre-dinner drinks... Didn't make it to dinner! Really great selection of beers. Food is limited to pork pies (amazing), scotch eggs (amazing) and cheese rolls (didn't try). Staff are really knowledgeable and despite it being a busy Friday night were more than willing to chat about the beers and share their knowledge. Had a wicked night.

Bring your own beer?
Dec 2018 • Solo
Went in there today, as I went to order I noticed an empty can of something I fancied trying on the bar. I'd seen this beer checked in a couple of times at Beerhouse on Untappd in the last week, so figured (not unreasonably) they were selling it. Alas, when I asked for one, the bar person looked at me like I had two heads, and said really contemptuously they didn't sell that beer. What the hell was it doing there then? I knew you could bring your own food into this place, but bring your own beer now too?

Hello! It seems you stumbled upon one of our 'bottle share' sessions. Some of our customers bring beers in to share with staff. This keeps us up to date with what our customers current tastes are & allows us to gage which styles will sell in future. I'm extremely sorry that the service from the bar staff was less than satisfactory, I have taken this up with them as 'contemptuous' is not acceptable and we want everyone to feel welcome. We can't control who checks in what at beerhouse on Untappd, but we do publish our menus on there & the beer you are mentioning can not have been published as for sale on the menu. I hope this answers your question as to why the beer was on the bar & can rest assured that the customer service aspect has been addressed.

A place where a woman can drink alone (and not feel weird about it)
Mar 2018 • Solo
I hate rating stuff because it’s impossible to be completely fair. Now that I’ve rated here 5 stars; either I had to get one star back from all the places that I’ve given 5 stars before, or I had to do something extra for the Beerhouse (other than spending all my time and salary there). So, I just wrote this ridiculously long comment that no one will ever read. Here are 5 reasons why the Beerhouse deserves all of those 5 stars: A woman can actually drink alone (and not feel weird about it): I moved to Market Harborough from a different country, let alone from another town. I didn’t know anyone around, I haven’t started to work yet and had nothing to do, furniture hadn’t arrived from Tukey yet so the only place to sit on the house was the floor, it was the hottest summer in the UK and I love beer. All these combined, led to the inevitable conclusion: me drinking alone. I’d been all to the pubs and bars around and almost burst into tears when I’ve found a place where no one was trying to figure out what is exactly wrong with me. This is ridiculously hard to find even in the year of 2019. I know a lot of pubs which claim to be “women friendly” (whatever that supposed to mean) but “drinking without being disturbed” alone doesn’t mean you’ll feel totally comfortable (well, drinking without being disturbed must be the fundamental right for everyone anyway). Here, I can guarantee you that you won’t feel like a strange creature from a far, far away galaxy. No one would even notice you unless you want them to. I’m the living (and drinking) proof of that! The beer (obviously): If you walk into a place called the “Beerhouse”, you expect good beer. You won’t be disappointed! The selection of beers changes all the time, but you can be sure that any beer you order would be great as they are all tasted and approved beforehand. There is a reason for all the beer enthusiasts who are regulars here. I have no idea how they can deal with all these breweries and huge selection of beers, ale and ciders. But they’re doing great. As a person just moved from a country where you must select between only 3 beers, I was confused and overwhelmed at some point and started to drink whatever is on tap number 1. If I’m feeling a bit adventurous that day, I go for number 3 and sometimes even go wild and have a pint of 14! And if you are wine person or just feel like drinking cider today they also have those. The people are great: I hate the term “The staff is great!” which is something you see in many comments. It sounds like the people working there are a single entity and don’t have their own personalities. They’re just staff, you know, not even real people! That’s why I wrote “the people are great” because every single one of the people who work there is awesome. They are all different from each other and there’s no “We don’t care who you are outside, just leave that personality of yours out when you’re working!” policy. So, by great I don’t just mean they’re friendly, smiling, kind and fast; they’re “I want to be friends with them!” kind of great. There is a book club: I love beer and I love books, but everyone is biased that two don’t go together. So I was super happy when I found out that Beerhouse also has a book club! My expectations were quite low, because book clubs are usually filled with boring people wearing scarves, complaining about the quality of the scallops they had yesterday, using unnecessarily fancy words; or with people who actually have no idea about books, seem to be ended up there by mistake, make irrelevant comments about anything. But! This book club is heavenly! I’ve never seen a group of people who are that knowledgeable, interested, super intelligent and fun at the same time. Sometimes we start to talk about the politics in Middle East, have an argument about epistemology, discuss the effect of genes on human behaviour and end up telling silly jokes. Because why not? Its owners are the best: It took me quite some time to figure out that one of the guys from the book club was also the owner of this place with his wife. I’m not even sure how should a pub-owner look or act like, but I was probably expecting someone who is more similar to those innkeepers from middle ages. They’re impossible to distinguish from other regulars as they’re not hanging out there like ‘bosses of that place’. And after knowing them better, I was completely relieved that half of my salary is not going to a modern day vigilant who cares only about profits, or a racist and sexist jerk who uses the pub just to get laid, or a brainless Trump fan who’d probably starve to death if we lived in a more meaningful world. I probably would go there anyway, but I even love this place more now that I know it is owned by sensible, intelligent and nice people who are REALLY passionate about what they do.
