This was our first visit to the lovely market town of Market Harborough and we booked a visit online through the museum’s website.
Because of covid, we had a timed slot and were the only visitors in the space. The artefacts from the Iron Age and Roman periods are wonderful as is the accompanying video which explains how local people discovered the treasure. Also extremely interesting were the social history artefacts and memorabilia which provided a fascinating insight into various periods of human history.
A great hour spent here and a special shout out to the staff who were very friendly and knowledgeable.

Great little museum
Nov 2019
We'd been to Wetherspoons for lunch and wanted something else to do on a wet day. Museum well laid out; great variety; accessible information. An hour or so well spent. Will return

Not far from the site if the Battle of Naseby, too! The museum encompasses both businesses, discoveries etc and is next to both The Old Grammar School and St Dionysius Church.

Thank you for coming to visit. If you are interested in the Battle of Naseby, there are several battlefield trail boards around the town of Market Harborough, including one in Church Square and at The Symington Building.

Really exciting displays although very few

We were looking for something to do one morning and wandered in this little museum by the library. It does not have many displays but the treasure they have displayed from the countryside was fascinating. I usually just browse displays at museums but I found myself reading every display relating to the treasure. The Roman helmet is really amazing. There were some intense displays of some English life through the ages in the back and there were a lot of Interesting household wares. It was a little too much to take it all in so I just glanced at those. It was well worth a short visit if you enjoy some history.

We only had a short time to visit but what we saw made us want to go back again. The museum is packed with fascinating items from the iron Age to more recent times.

If you have an interest in incredibly engineered corsets, this is for you. Odd bits of local history, not in any particular order or logical thematic arrangement.

Hello piespiespies2018, thank you for visiting us. We certainly do have lots of corsets to show and there's an even larger collection of them at the collections resources centre - if you're interested in seeing any, you can ask for details at the museum.

Libraries How The Should Be! Other than the phones.
Nov 2018 • Couples
Wide selection of books for such a small library. Diverse children's section too and, a fairly good reading area. People do tale on there phones a bit too much.

I was not planning on visiting the museum, but just popped in to get out of the rain and ended up staying for an hour. It is a great little museum with many artefacts from Harborough’s history. The museum is well laid out with plenty of interesting exhibits including a full cobblers shop. My young son and I found it interesting looking at this from my childhood that are now in museums.

Interesting small museum
Aug 2018 • Couples
This museum is located in a former factory, and is incorporated to the local library, so you have to walk through the library to see it. The museum has a large collection of ancient coins, plus lots of local artefacts and part of a shoemaker's workshop. It is quite interesting, but rather small and takes less than an hour to visit.
