Excellent afternoon, started with a guided outdoor tour, which was very informative. We then moved indoors where very knowledgable guides answered any questions

We decided to visit Rockingham castle for the day as we had my nephew with us and they were advertising the vikings there for the day. When we arrived there was long queues to get in although they were fast moving. The tickets weren't cheap but for an extra pound you could visit the house as well which made it... More

Went to visit the grounds with my dog; allowed in the gardens but not the Castle itself. It was a beautiful sunny day and the rose garden, views of the countryside and yew walk were all fabulous. The walk to the wild garden was great too, we looked around the church on our way. The refreshments available in the tea... More

Really enjoyed walking around gardens with amazing views into Rockingham Village and across the rolling countryside. Walked around rose garden, across the lawns and past the elephant yew hedge. More like a fortified manor house than a castle, with a long family history. Nice small cafe where we had enjoyable scones and cream

Great place to watch battle re-enactments. The viking skirish on august bank holiday monday was really well done. Bothchildren and adults got really involved and the castle is extremelyinteresting.

Visited Rockingham on Bank Holiday Monday with my wife and 4 young boys for the Vikings event. Although there wasn’t much to see, we walked around the stalls and the kids really enjoyed the story telling. The food tent was selling pulled pork rolls which were delicious and reasonably priced. We walked round the grounds and gardens which on such... More

We visit this venue on s regular basis because it is absolutely beautiful and the landscape is amazing. Regular venue for events like Jousting and fairs. Historically correct and they offer the space as a wedding venue too. During summer you can watch cricket as well (Sundays) Staff are friendly.

Great to know that you are local to us and can visit regularly. We are looking forward to the Autumn Fair which shall be staged again this year on the Great Park for the weekend of 24th and 25th September. Following this, our next big event will be our Victorian Christmas for the week of 21st to 25th November. As... More

Visited August Bank Holiday for the Viking event with my husband who is also disabled and our adult daughter and son-in-law. Cost us £48 to get into the event and castle. Researched info on website first about disabled access so didn't expect too many problems. On arrival we asked the car park staff about disabled parking and was directed to... More

Our humblest apologies for what appears to be a totally unacceptable series of events which culminated in your family having a disappointing day. However, I am very grateful for you taking the time to highlight what I feel can be amended for the future. Firstly, as you say, the Castle was not built with disabled access in mind. We can... I only live up the road but never been so we thought we would give it a go. The grounds are beautiful and lovely to have a picnic and spend time with the kids. The tea room was nice (hot chocolate disappointing and very cheap so I wouldn't order this!) the food was good though. The castle was lovely, I... More

Glad to know that on the whole you had an enjoyable day out. As you say, the family are resident at Rockingham Castle year round so it is not possible to show visitors their private rooms. I think it is enough that they are prepared to share the Castle with so many people and I am pleased that your trip... More
