Visited this castle yesterday with my husband for the afternoon. We took a picnic which we ate in the woods after looking round the castle. The gardens are beautiful and interesting. I lived in Great Easton 50 years ago and never visited this place as I seem to remember it was shut at that time. It was lovely to view the... More

Visited on Tuesday when the weather was fine. The gardens and the outside of the castle/house were beautiful and well maintained. I particularly enjoyed the formal and rose gardens. The highlight was our light lunch and afternoon tea at Walker's House Tea Room. Gorgeous setting, helpful and engaging staff and a superb menu. Food was first class and is made... More

Visited on a Sunday (I think it's only open on Tuesday's and Sunday's). It was a lovely day and the castle looked splendid. The castle was rendered useless as a defensive location by the Roundheads after taking it during the Civil war. You can see the old parts of the castle and the rest which has been turned into a... Went yesterday on what the weathermen promised would be a cloudy but dry day. They were wrong so I did not explore the grounds as extensively as would have been the case if it had not been raining. What I did see of them though was good. The Castle dates in part from Norman times but was knocked about over... More

Rocked up at Rockingham on a Sunday afternoon and ended up spending a pleasant 4 hours + there. The castle has a stunning elevated location overlooking the Welland valley and a really interesting, varied history. There's tales of royal visits (King John, Richard The Lionheart, Henry VIII), a Civil War skirmish and Charles Dickens performed plays here. I've given Rockingham... More

We live nearby so we thought we'd take a family trip out. Nice enough day out, Castle quite small & not much to look around, beautiful gardens though, worth £11 every day.

Had a lovely visit here. Bought tickets for the grounds and house but we underestimated how long it would take to go around (and get lost in) the gardens, so we didn't make it inside. We had a good value 'high tea' in the tearoom and the service was very good, however the cake was stale (I dare say they... More

A nice way to spend a few hours on a sunny summers day. We took the tour of the outside of the house and grounds. The guide was very informative and friendly and found what we were told helpful when we toured the castle. The castle tour was interesting and our grandchildren (7 &9) found the Kitchen area particularly interesting.... More

I organised a group of 29 ladies from our WI to visit Rockingham Castle in the summer as we had already been the previous December for a tour of the castle and found it very enjoyable. The ladies in the Estate Office are extremely helpful and accommodating and made organising the trip very easy. It was a beautiful day and... More

I really enjoyed my visit here,it's been my second time but unfortunately I wasn't feeling well the first time so I couldn't enjoy it as much!. The surrounding countryside and views are superb and well worth stopping and taking in. The castle is lovely and interesting. Though only part of it is open to the public, what you get to see...
