Great location , quiet position with character.

Warm welcome with a tour set back in time, it was well done. Coffee and mince pies in the marquee. Walked to the peaceful church , well worth the visit.

Rockingham is beautifully situated in the Northants countryside. We were greeted by cheerful and courteous staff, and the "housekeeper" dressed in full Victorian regalia gave us the guided tour as in 1849. We cannot speak too highly of this lady's informative guide showing us the kitchens etc and explaining the history, also the desk where Charles Dickens wrote. We all... More

this was our first visit to Rockingham Castle. We arrived early and exchanged our tickets bought online with a very friendly lady in the kiosk at the entrance to the castle and was directed to a parking space by very smiley attendants. Walking into the castle we headed straight away for the first tour of the day and we were... More

We went on the Friday evening, we arrived around 6 and had a glass of mulled wine in the heated marquee. Then we went on the 6.30 tour, our tour guide, 'Mrs Lewis' was excellent, full of interesting information and quick witted, making it very entertaining. The tour lasted around 45 minutes, I would have liked to see more of... More

Today was our second visit to Rockingham to sample a Victorian Christmas. Once again we were not disappointed. The staff in the car park were welcoming and cheery. We started with a three course christmas dinner. The food was excellent, the portions ample. The staff were amazing and they were rushed off their feet, but they still found time to... More

What a wonderful experience being shown around the Castle with rooms decorated and prepared for Christmas Eve 1849. The tour is very well prepared and allows you to have a slight look at life in the past. ALL of the staff are very knowledgeable, welcoming which gives you a warm feeling as you walk through the kitchens dining rooms library... More

Time travelled to Christmas Eve 1849, and shown around the Castle by 'the housekeeper ' and 'the butler' both beautifully dressed and 'in character'. Very informative tour of the kitchen and other rooms, table laid in the dining room with silver and food, serenaded in the long gallery by a pianist ('house guest'). About a thirty five minute tour, made... More

With friends, visited Rockingham on 23/11 The Christmas 1849 experience as told by the "Butler" was fun and it was really good to understand life downstairs and experience what happened in what rooms. After that we had an Xmas lunch which was good value for money. Pity that Xmas pudding wasn't part of the menu. To loose the calories a... More
