Old Mrs TT is recovering from an operation and I wanted to take her out to cheer her up. A friend had sent her a postcard with a 'Get Well' message and the picture on it was of a detail of stained glass in Northleach church. 'I'll take you there' said I 'and we'll treat ourselves to Sunday lunch in a pub (we did - at The Wheatsheaf Inn and it was jolly good. Have a look at my review!)

English churches have a unique character and a universal appeal, even for seasoned sinners like me. We should cherish them. We did enjoy our visit and managed to spot the piece of stained glass - of a medieval bagpiper - even though it is quite small. The churchyard is a haven of tranquillity too.

I was very glad to make a donation on my way out.

On our next visit we think we may join the congregation for Evensong

A very warm welcome and guide. In addition the churchyard has been surveyed and documented with booklets on the various graves and memorials. The church is light and airy and the main stained glass stunning.

Stopped over in Northleach for 1 1/2 hours during a day catching buses around the Cotswolds and loved it. Very quiet and less tourists than Bourton on the Water, which was also enjoyable. This is a very interesting visit. I picked up a leaflet about the buildings at the Bourton tourist centre and followed it on my walk around Northleach. Definitely spend some time in this village if you're passing through on the way to other higher profile villages.

Visiting a few local churches and unfortunately it was locked so unable to visit. Luckily the church at Hampnet was open and is completely stunning. Real shame it couldn't have been open with hand sanitizer etc to allow you to worship at any time.

My favorite part of this church were the marvelous brasses. Many churches have them covered but here they are on full display. We had been to the mechanical music museum and wandered here fromm the same car park. There was a church member there to talk to and a guide sheet to use as one toured the church.

A gorgeous church in a quiet corner or Northleach. It is surrounded by an old cemetery and a beautiful lawn. The church grounds provide great views onto the town. Worth a look if you are in the town.

A testament to social change. The wealth of the Cotswold wool merchants manifesting itself with the building of churches like this, changing for ever the status of the merchant class, telling the nobility "we have arrived". it's not ostentatious, but rather grand and the monumental brasses show that a woolman and a tailor- a distant relative maybe- showed his trade with a pair of cloth shears in a finely crafted brass; large families too- with their fifteen children...

This is how the church describes itself, and it lives up to the description. It is light and spacious inside, and has a high roof in the nave area. The church has a lot of interesting features, and it is well worth paying £3 for the short guide if you are interested in all the special features inside. Outside it has an impressive tower and dominates the scenery over the town.

Christmas is the time when churches make a special attempt to celebrate the birth of the founder. This one was no exception.

It's wrong to say 'reeks' of history as that is pejorative. I mean that the whole place reminds us of a glorious past of tradition. A lively notice board shows us that the church is very much alive.

If I were local I would definitely attend.

PS There is a very comprehensive history board.
