I took my granddaughters on an adventure. We caught the passenger ferry from Shotley Gate to Harwich for a day out. The Lightvessel LV18 was a surprise but what a great thing to visit. We wandered all over it, looking in the cabins, on the...More

We spent a most enjoyable half hour looking around this boat. Below decks is fascinating, all the original bunks and cupboards have been preserved in the cabins. As my father served on the lightships in the 1950's this boat was of particular interest to me....More

Hi, some interesting reviews here regarding visits to the Lightvessel LV18 in Harwich. However, I need to correct some big misunderstandings in people's perception of what they were visiting. The first thing that needs to be understood is that the LV18 HAS NO connection to...More

Well worth popping in, very interesting to see an authentic lightship with all its' innards still intact. Good to see the history of the radio ships recorded too. We had an hour before the ferry left and this filled the gap perfectly- very reasonable cost.

I did not know much about the pirate radio activities that went on off the edge of the Essex coast but you can find out all about them on the boat that rocked! The people looking after the boat gave me a friendly welcome.

I'm sorry, are you referring to Harwich International Port? The lightship is on Harwich Quay.
