The Redoubt is a local attraction which was built for the French invasion by Napoleon which never came to occur. The current building (all original) has exhibits from the local area and covers the history period from build to today. Well worth a visit

What a great place to visit. It’s run by very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly people. It’s full of historical memorabilia to inform you of the site over the years. Our visit ended with a lovely cuppa and friendly chat with the helpers. Would highly recommend.

We went to the redoubt over the Harwich beer festival weekend. The redoubt itself has been very well preserved and all credit to those that look after it. The beer festival was very good, the weather was fantastic and the beer great too.

Enjoyable visit (as always) volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable, taking time to explain the weapons and points of interest to my son. We have visited a few times, it's always worth a visit.

Round for with cannons on all sides. In fantastic condition. Built in 1808 to keep out Napoleons invasion. Harwich port needed protection as it would have been a perfect embarking area. Staff are friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable and well trained.
