A surprise hit

I'm not sure why we finally ventured in after many visits to Lyme, but really glad we did. It was great. The outside does not do it justice, the food was superb. At 7.30 on... read more

After a long walk we needed some food and struggled to find anything open in Lyme Regis. A very pleasant welcome on entry and a nice selection of beers. A good choice of food on offer, don't forget the specials board. We had fresh hake and scampi, both good size portions and well cooked. Was nice to find a place... More

Had not booked and popped in for an early tea. Quite a surprise. Lot of places closed until 6pm As previously mentioned quite unassuming from the outside. Food and service excellent. I had Scampi and my Partner had Cod and Chips. All piping hot and served by friendly and efficient staff. Nothing to much trouble. Would definitely recommend. Thankyou.

The food here is nice as they use local suppliers. The fish and chips was enjoyable but the chips were not the usual wedge style chips you usually get but very thin and to me might have been frozen and not freshly produced like everything else on the menu. The local ice creams makes a nice change but being dog... More

I'm not sure why we finally ventured in after many visits to Lyme, but really glad we did. It was great. The outside does not do it justice, the food was superb. At 7.30 on a cold March night every table was full and we now know why. Delicious, reasonably priced (for Lyme, find all eateries here at the top... More

I recently attended the Pilot Boat for a party - the catering was primarily cold beef and ham - I am sorry to say that I have never had meat so tough - although cut thin it was impossible to cut it or to chew it - surreptitious glances at the meat left on other people's plates suggested the same.... I go down to Lyme Regis for the Fossil Festival each year and having tried most of the restaurants, we have decided that "The Pilot Boat" is the best place to eat and drink. Very hospitable and friendly staff and the fish pie is to die for! Great history of a dog saving sailors lives in the bar many years... More

We called here mid afternoon for a meal with friends. We usually eat at the Royal Lion hotel but the kitchen had closed so we had to find somewhere different. Just further down Broad Street is this pub at the very bottom of the hill. It is easily overlooked amongst the holidaymakers and traffic. The restaurant in the back room... More

Lyme Regis seemed to have closed down for the night when we went out to eat at 9pm on a Sunday. The Pilot Boat and a local Indian were the only places still serving food. We were made welcome and encouraged to make our selection as soon as possible. I had an acceptable lasagne and a good glass of Malbec.... More
