lovely area to walk

i have lived in the area all my life and it is a fabulous area to walk, although rather wet in places. buckland monachorum has a lovely little pub serving good food

We hired bicycles from the shop in Yelverton and spent a lovely afternoon cycling to Tavistock and back.

Most of the trackbed of a former railway from Plymouth through Yelverton to Tavistock has been turned into a 21-mile cycling and walking route called Drake's Trail, crossing the Walkham Valley on the way. We parked at Bedford Bridge car park (free parking), which has a toilet block, and walked a circular walk to Grenofen Bridge and back. We like to take a short walk usually with the dog from the car park at Magpie Bridge downstream along the small path beside the fast flowing and attractive river.
