Walk from Wadebridge to Padstow and back
May 2021 • Couples
We were staying just outside Wadebridge and decided to make a day of getting to Padstow but by walking. You can hire bikes but we wanted the challenge of the walk.

There is some beautiful scenery along the way and plenty of benches to rest and just enjoy the view. As its along the old train track the walk is flat so not to difficult to walk.

Half way along is The Atlantic Coast Express which does takeaway drinks and food.

This is a lovely walk along the edge of the Camel River and makes for a very pleasant day out.

Perfect for bikers and hikers
May 2021
Such an asset All the way from Padstow to Bodmin, this level, well-maintained track is ideal for cyclists ad walkers . Plenty of kerb-side parking in Padstow at the start of the trail.

First time on Camel trail
Apr 2021
Being over fifty and not a serious cyclist was nervous, but paths wide, minimal hills and plenty of rest stops, photo opportunities. Went to Padstow, easy ride.

Great views and route

We went from Wadebridge to Padstow, leisurely ride along a great route with wonderful views , which then brings you to Padstow, easier and less stressful than trying to drive and park.

A fabulous day out
Sep 2020 • Friends
We usually cycle the Camel trail between Padstow and Wadebridge but today we decided to do Wadebridge to Bodmin and we can’t believe how fabulous this cycle trail is. We hired our bikes from the super friendly staff at Bridge Bike Hire and set off to Bodmin. It’s a beautiful cycle track with a lovely tea shop at the other end selling wine from the Camel Valley Vineyard. We couldn’t ask for more from our trip.

Rode from wadebridge to padstow and back, trail is great, pretty level and apart from one rough part near wadebridge and a few pot holes it's all nice and level, we do it every time we are on holiday in the area.

A family favourite

We walked from Padstow to Wadebridge return. It was a grey and misty day but the views and bird watching were still fantastic.

Rather chaotic from Wadebridge to Padstow
Sep 2020 • Couples
Having cycled along this path many times on holiday with the kids, my husband and I took our own bikes to Cornwall this time. We cycled from Wadebridge to Bodmin and then Bodmin back to Padstow.
I think everyone forgets that the trail doesn’t actually end in Wadebridge as when you rejoin it just around the corner and take the route up to Bodmin it is much less busy and has beautiful scenery. The path itself is also much easier, it isn’t the gravelly slate path like the stretch from Wadebridge to Padstow.
And don’t forget, Camel Valley Tea Rooms is situated about 2/3 of the way along - amazing scones.
I appreciate that Padstow is often the attraction for people cycling the trail, but Wadebridge also has a lot to offer.

Scenic cycling with family

We hired bikes in Wadebridge, parking in the long stay car park behind Lidl - but get there early as the car park fills up quickly. Only £4.50 to park there sll day. We headed out on the cycle path towards Padstow, a flat, easy and very pretty cycle ride. Quite quiet early on but gets very busy as it's a popular section of the trail - factor in that it was also Bank Hol Sunday too. After a few hours in Padstow (you can park your bikes at the end of the trail and wander in to Padstow), we came back to Wadebridge and then headed for Bodmin. A short part of the trail requires you to ride on the road through Wadebridge but when you hit the cycle path, it's lovely and shaded, running through some beautiful countryside. This section of the path was much quieter. We didn't quite make it to Bodmin, stopping for a cream tea in the tea garden en route before we had to head back to meet someone. Again, a fairly easy ride, although distance will tire you out if you are not used to it. A great day out with the kids.
