Had looked forwards to this walk with wife and dog. It was a unusually windy day but unfortunately this didn't perturb the main reason the walk didn't meet expectations: cyclists, hoards of them in endless streams many not having seen two wheels for some time wobbling all over the place or generally riding too fast, inattentively or inconsiderately with no concept of how to share a path with walkers.
It is now no surprise to me that we passed less than a dozen other couples walking, clearly anyone in the know avoids.
It was particularly dangerous for the dog off lead so we had to keep her on lead and even then she was stressed by cyclist approaching from the rear at speed then "tinging" their bells.
It's a shame as the views along the estuary are fantastic but I spent most of my time looking out for cyclists.
Avoid if your looking for a relaxing stroll particularly if you want to take your dog

Thoroughly enjoyed it on hired bikes. Easy cycling on hard track from Wadebridge to Padstow and return. All achieved in 2 hours with a stop en route at the handily placed snack stops and an ice cream in Padstow .
The weather was perfect so the views were stunning. We’d do it again but maybe to Bodmin next time.

A great walk with options to do one or two ways and on foot or cycle. 5 miles long takes about 2 hours with a young child. Bus return from Wadebridge to Padstow if required right at the end of the trail. Fabulous wildlife - we saw about 8 different wading birds along the estuary. Although weather was good for us there is no shelter on the trip if the weather changes. Very exhilarating though and flat all the way.

Easy trail to complete on a bicycle, even if you are not very fit. The path is quite wide and flat and the views are lovely.

It can get quite busy over the summer and if you are planning on renting a bike make sure you book it beforehand.

We hired bikes in Wadebridge, parking in the long stay car park behind Lidl - but get there early as the car park fills up quickly. Only £4.50 to park there sll day. We headed out on the cycle path towards Padstow, a flat, easy and very pretty cycle ride. Quite quiet early on but gets very busy as it's a popular section of the trail - factor in that it was also Bank Hol Sunday too. After a few hours in Padstow (you can park your bikes at the end of the trail and wander in to Padstow), we came back to Wadebridge and then headed for Bodmin. A short part of the trail requires you to ride on the road through Wadebridge but when you hit the cycle path, it's lovely and shaded, running through some beautiful countryside. This section of the path was much quieter. We didn't quite make it to Bodmin, stopping for a cream tea in the tea garden en route before we had to head back to meet someone. Again, a fairly easy ride, although distance will tire you out if you are not used to it. A great day out with the kids.

Lovely, flat cycle to do, respectful walkers who moved out the way for me and my family. We saw the train set off and it was a spectacle to see, my youngest had never seen a steam train before so great experience. When we went through Padstow, tourist heaven. Don't go in the summer if you want to relax in this lovely place.

We did this trail with 2 kids aged 9 and 6, and 1 year old in a bike seat (using our own bikes). The trail is lovely and well surfaced, and has some good views over the river camel.
Personally I find that my 6 year old gets exhausted pretty quickly so I like to keep out bike rides short (around 5 miles). Cycling from wadebridge to padstow and back is a bit much for him. We therefore joined the trail at oldtown, cycled to padstow, had a lovely couple of hours in the harbour, and then cycled back to our car. Short but relaxing!

An absolutely fantastic cycle trail, that is flat, easy going with fantastic countryside and estuary views. We started out at the car park adjacent to the Borough arms (a decent pub) and we cycled the 22 miles to padstow and back.

The only reason I have not given it five stars is that the signage in wadbridge where the path is split and it goes through the town is terrible and so you have a load of family’s pushing bikes along the road, also it’s very busy along the Wadbridge to padstow section although still ok.

Completed the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Bodmin (6-7 miles... about 13 miles round trip) on our own bikes. Family of 4 (mum, dad and 2 girls 7 and 10yrs)

Having completed the trail padstow to Wadebridge on a previous holiday can happily say the route is a cyclists dream. Open sections, woodland sections... rivers, cafes and bridges. Relatively flat (no major hills) and plenty of space to pass walkers, runners etc who share the path.

A great cycle, I cycle this trail 3 or 4 times a year a total of 17 miles each way. It is so varied and always interesting. It can be a bit congested during the summer holidays, especially between Wadebridge and Padstow, but who can blame them!
