We love Daymer Bay beach for swimming and paddle boarding.
The car park however leaves much to be desired.
1. It’s privately operated, controlled by cameras and they are ruthless in fining you. We over stayed our ticket by 20 mins and then had to pay a £60 fine. Paying by the app is a minimum charge of 4 hours. Any less you need cash.
2. Despite the parking charges, the toilets you also have to pay for and they are to be frank disgusting. There is a sign blaming Cornwall Council for abandoning the loos but frankly as they don’t get the parking revenue why should they look after the loos. Alliance Parking should do this from the fortune they are making in fines and parking fees.
3. The car park is often strewn with rubbish.
4. The car park is full of pot holes.
5. The cafe never seems to be open except on very hot summer days.
You are left with the feeling that this is a very neglected place, a total rip off and just a money making operation.
They could and should do so much better.

This is a wonderful sandy beach cleaned twice daily by the tides and safe for children to swim. Dog friendly. There are lots of adverse comments about the toilets but we locals are funding them assisted by the shop and cafe as Cornwall Council would no longer chip in. This is done through a community interest group and it's very expensive to fund the toilets especially as they keep getting damaged by people flushing poo bags into the loos which results in expensive repairs. The toilets are cleaned daily in the high season. But this is why we have to try to insist on collecting the 40p charge as running the loos is very expensive.

Been meaning to check out the beach for some time as I often get wind alerts for kiting, which I notice is prohibited between July and August if any body reading this, knows what a (PHC) sticker is please enlighten me and excuse my ignorance. Car park very big, terrain rough, parking despite previous posts is £1 pound per hour or £4 all day cash or card did not see app anywhere, it’s a good deal, toilets are over priced at 40 p it is what it is and need to be kept going. There is a coastal walk which can take you either direction Polzeath 1 1/4 Mile or by car literally 5 mins I tested it. Dogs are welcome but clean up requested. What I did not realise was the area suffers from soft sand, I have added the picture of the guidance you decide whats best, the landscape is beautiful and the water is much calmer than Polzeath ideal for kiting, I look forward to my first outing in the estuary however not much room when the tide comes in. Post code PL27 6SA it works, the lane will only accommodate 1 car in any direction drive slow expect stoppages, enjoy your day.

A month after driving my disabled wife to watch the sea for 35 minutes in the car park, (I thought disabled parking was free)I get a ticket for £100 from Alliance Parking, a company apparently run by an ex-nightclub bouncer and neither a member of the British Parking Association (BPA) or the Independent Parking Committee (IPC).
If the parking firm listed on the ticket is not on either of these lists, they do not belong to a trade body, some say
you don’t have to pay.
Anyone had experience dealing with this company? I know the government has been trying to crack down on cowboy private car park operators who charge excessive fines.

On the positive side the beach is great for young and old.
On the negative side I am completely disgusted by the parking charges and more importantly that the disabled toilet in the car park you have to pay to use it.
Having a disabled son we regularly use our radar key to be able to use toilet facilities but not here! Pay or go away.

This is a beautiful beach great for families children and dogs and very safe .
My complaint is the rip ff charges for the car park but equally bad the terrible toilet facilities .
There is a charge for the toilet even the disabled toilet . When we were there the Gents toilet was locked so both men and women had to queue to use the ladies toilets . Having used a coin machine to enter one by one the toilets were disgusting - no running tap water , no toilet paper and paper strewn around everywhere . Only one of the four toilets worked and the whole place was a real health hazard .
In addition there was not a single litter or dog bin anywhere on the car park .As you left the site on the public road there was a Council litter bin about twenty yards from the car oark
Just so you know there are zero facilities - no shop , ice cream van or cafe .
The place is a disgrace - don’t go there !!!

Stunning beach, but the most unethical carpark I have come across yet. My advice to anyone even considering parking here would be to completely avoid it. The car park operates under an ANPR system (although this is far from made clear on entry). This means your time of entry and exit is recorded on cameras and you are required to pay for the full time in between entry and exit (not via a typical pay and display system as signs misleadingly display). Further, your entry (and exit) time is not communicated to you in any way (as would be the case ordinarily for any carpark operating under this system).
I parked here and received a PCN in the post a couple of weeks later claiming I hadn’t paid for my “full” duration of stay - despite being unaware that this was the operating system in place. I purchased a ticket and followed the pay and display signs, not the tiny small print that mentions the misleading system actually in operation (that I did not see at the time). I was therefore penalised for not covering the time it took me to purchase a ticket, including their parking app failing to work, and huge queues at the pay machines.
I appealed my PCN and went to the IAS, neither of which were successful, resulting in me paying £100 towards further funding their unethical system.
I will never even consider parking here again, and neither will anyone I speak to about it. Very poor car park for such a lovely destination.

Lovely beach for surfers and dog walkers. Less so for bathers who don't like dogs but plenty of dog free beaches around.. Good size car park and nice cafe. There have been comments about parking. It's quite reasonable at £1 per hour but Daymer Bay has long been renowned for parking scams. The latest one is to offer contactless payment at the machine but the signal is poor so asks you to insert your card. It then takes £4 before you even get a chance to approve the debit. I mentioned it to the attendant and he politely pointed out a small sticker in the corner of the machine that says £4 min charge on cards!! So make sure you take change!
I have never understood why they welcome dogs but don't provide a poo bin (there's one half way up the hill to the main road)

Daymer bay has anpr cameras monitoring the parking run by alliance parking. If you overstay, you will get a letter demanding £60 rising to £170 and then court action.
Ignore it , don't pay it. You won't hear anything else from them.

Hi, I think so as have seen plenty of people barbecuing on a evening there.

Hi, We did the SW coastal path walk to Rock from Daymer last month, which was only a short jaunt. I wonder if you can recall how long it took you to walk to Polzeath please?
Many thanks,

Yes, it's approximately 3.5 miles, so, just under one and a quarter hours... (ish') ...depending on your agility of course. 👞👞
