Our 25th wedding anniversary celebrations had been wrecked by COVID lockdowns so we decided to pick a day on our Norfolk family holiday with our grown up kids to celebrate in style. And boy did we make the right choice! From my first email asking about availability to my last on the day before our trip, Liam was friendly, helpful, flexible to our every need and helped us tailor our trip, nothing was too much trouble. We planned our sunset cruise private charter together with Liam who suggested getting his catering company called ‘beautiful brunches’ to produce a tailor-made feast of food for us which he would lay out on the deck table, something special to reflect our anniversary he promised!

When we arrived, everything was as Liam had promised, his cheerful friendly welcome put us all at ease and was matched by the lovely Diane (Liam’s Mum, crew and incredible source of local knowledge) who presented us with a lovely bunch of flowers and a bottle of fizz! What followed was a truly magical two hours of gentle cruising on the beautiful Lucy Lavers, watching the Wells scenery slip past, chatting to Liam and Diane about the boat, local history and life in general, eating our delicious, beautifully presented food and sharing the whole experience with our family. We even saw a sunset through the broken cloud on what had threatened to be a day of thunderstorms and as we cruised back into Wells harbour, with the lights of the properties on the harbour wall twinkling and welcoming us back, we knew we’d made the best choice possible in asking Liam to help us celebrate our special occasion, both he and Diane made our evening just perfect. I hope you get chance to have a similar experience on the water at Wells or to take advantage of the other trips available and if you do you really should choose the Lucy Lavers and let Liam and Diane make your day!

This little boat with a big history is the perfect way to see the amazing sunsets that Wells has to offer. Such a privilege to travel on board.
The trip is first class all round, staffed by a friendly and knowledgeable team who cannot do enough for you. This is a really lovely, intimate trip not a big commercialised experience and I would recommend it for anyone. Excellent value for money, hot drinks were included which was very welcome as it was a bit chilly!

Beautiful old lifeboat, wonderful crew, was made to feel comfortable and safe and at ease at once
Was told lots of interesting facts and history about lifeboats, wells next the sea and Dunkirk.
The boat is beautiful, just being on her was a pleasure in its self, with the beautiful views of the quay, and the marsh and along the beach huts, where we was welcomed with a continental breakfast, more like a feast, supplied by beautiful brunches.
Was a chilled relaxing tour, on the sea.You could see how devoted the son(captain) and mother (tour guide)team are for their love of sea, boats and knowledge. And very experienced.
We will definitely be going back different time of year so we can feel the sea breeze and the nature around us in a different season , worth looking on their Facebook page and website as they do different trips, With different refreshments and they do get booked up fast.
Highly recommend anyone to take a trip to sea on this beautiful boat

We had an excellent trip on the Lucy Lavers, expertly guided by Liam who also produced an excellent breakfast which we enjoyed whilst learning about the role of the Lucy Lavers as one of the Dunkirk Little Ships.

Liam was also very engaging and informative about Wells next the Sea itself, and in particular some of the acts of valour carried out by the town's lifeboat crews over the years.

The Lucy Lavers has been superbly restored, and taking a trip aboard is a wonderful way to experience a part of Britain's history as well as enjoy Wells from the water. Recommended.

A delightful trip round Wells harbour on this historic boat, Lucy Lavers, on a sunny afternoon. Our 2 man crew ( sorry, I did not take a note of your names), provided a wealth of interesting information about the boat, the painstaking restoration of wooden boats particularly lifeboats, the Wells harbour, wildlife and the new lifeboat station which is nearing completion. I was particularly interested in the part that the Lucy Lavers and other Wells boats played in the evacuation of Dunkirk. The boat itself is stunning with its beautifully polished wood. There was even a cup of tea provided. If you have an hour or so to spare in Wells I can’t think of a more pleasant and informative way to spend the time. I hope to return for a sunset tour later in the year.

My daughter booked this for my 60th birthday treat. She said Liam and his team were so helpful through the booking process and in regular contact answering questions and being really helpful!
We had a fantastic trip. Liam and his team were very welcoming and knowledgeable telling us all about the boats history. Picnic provided by Blakeney Deli delicious.
Would definitely recommend to both locals and visitors as such a lovely way to see Wells and the coastline. We will be back!

A trip on the wonderful Lucy Lavers should not be missed when visiting Wells Next The Sea. Liam & Diane were an incredible team who made our trip thoroughly enjoyable. Nothing was rushed, we were made to feel welcome and throughout the voyage we never felt crowded with plenty of room for families to socially distance.

Both Liam and Diane are highly knowledgeable and kept us both informed and entertained as they described the history of Lucy Lavers and her role as both a rescue craft in the Dunkirk evacuation and later as a lifeboat. In summary, a wonderful trip which we will definitely repeat more than once!

A short trip aboard the beautiful lifeboat Lucy Lavers with 81 years of fascinating history including her part in the Dunkirk Evacuation in 1940. The Skipper Liam is skilled, friendly and well informed. I didn’t have the food offered on some of the trips but it looks delicious. The setting in the historic port of Wells is amazing too- Wells looks great from the water!

Today we boarded the Lucy Lavers in the beautiful sunshine down at Tugboat Yard. The skipper, Liam, crew, Diane, were very welcoming and got us all settled onboard. As we set sail we were offered complimentary drinks and as we cruised round Wells harbour many historical and current details were pointed out. As we continued out of the harbour we spotted a number of other retired lifeboats, Liam had great knowledge on the history of these other vessels. We had pre ordered the Brunch box for us and our little boys, it was truly excellent! Packed full of goodies from ham, cheese, croissant to chocolate dipped strawberries and pan-au-chocolate to name a few, an add on we would highly recommend. We then had a slow cruise back into the harbour. She really is such a lovely vessel and the crew are bloomin’ marvellous too! We hope to be back aboard soon!

A very sociable trip.
Liam was very knowledgeable and spoke with enthusiasm about The Lucy Lavers as well as other former lifeboats we passed along the quay.
We went on the sunset cruise, (other parts of the day are available) and Liam steered the boat to ideal spots for photos as the sun went down.
There was a food option, which we didn't have, but it looked nice and we sort of wish we had!
All in all, a great end to a day by the sea.
