Climbing with Mike
Dec 2019 • Family
We had an impromptu family climbing session with Mike who calmly and professionally encouraged us and coached us as we climbed pine trees 20m high and scaled climbing walls before stepping off of a 10m high platform! (All rigged up to harness’ of course)! We would highly recommend Mike as an activity leader. He was great fun and very laid back and brilliant with our three kids aged 8, 6 and 4. He allowed us the freedom to have the most fun we’ve had as a family whilst somehow feeling like part of our family! Thanks Mike for such an exhilarating and fun couple of hours climbing at the centre. We can’t wait to come back!

Fun weekend for large group of friends
Oct 2019 • Friends
We booked the residential centre for our group of adult friends with our children . 6 families compromised of 12 adults and 12 children aged 1-8 years. To be honest we were worried it was going to be bit uncomfortable as no sofas , fireplace, tv etc for adults to lounge in evenings and not exactly a luxurious get away. However we were all pleasantly surprised . The bunk beds were comfy and the showers all clean and good working order . The big kitchen had all equipment needed to cook for 24 of us. The large hall allowed for children to play burn off steam and the centre was so warm we felt cosy in the evenings we could congregate away from the bedrooms. The weather was mostly dry so we could get outside but if it had of rained the large space in hall meant we could have provided activities for the children running about indoors adequately as entertained .

We enjoyed the outdoor space and walk in woods exploring aswell as the campfire which the children all enjoyed toasting marshmallows . When the children are older definitely will be booking activities as all look fun! Will definitely return. Adults able to relax together and children had the best time .

Great staff
Jun 2019 • Family
We've just spent the weekend here for "Ticfest", a Tourettes Action event. And we had an amazing time! The activities staff were so good.. I must mention in particular, Amber, who was just superb. She took our group af children, with various additional needs, Autism, Tourettes, ADHD to name a few, and she delivered a perfect selection of activities, high rope, raft building and just understood her audience so well, the kids loved her. 😊

So I highly recommend this place, very nice location.

Fabulous school trip
Jun 2018 • Business
Came here with 24 primary children. We stayed only one night, but from our arrival up until we left was action packed. The children loved it, as did the teachers.
The place is lovely and clean. You are greeted upon arrival and we go into the dining area for a quick half hour chat. All rules and regulations are discussed, plus what you do if there is a fire. You are expected to tidy up after yourselves andprepare your own breakfast. The children made up their own beds, then we all played games outside with the staff. We had lunch and then went outside again, put into groups and went off and did team group work. You have the same member of staff with you for all your time there. We prechose 3 group activities to do over the 2 days. It was non- stop fun and we had the weather on our side.
The food was excellent. All home cooked on a daily basis by their wonderful cook, whose name escapes me right now. She was lovley. Prepared my vegetarian sandwiches to perfection. She cooks with a smile and plays classical music. All these positive vibes makes your food taste even better. Plenty of food, large helpings, home cooked food and desserts in the evening, all to die for! I would return based on the food, forget the activities just stay and eat!!!!!
The rooms were a good size as were the bathrooms. The children are expected to be somewhat independent, turn up on time, make and strip beds, wash their cups up, clear their eating areas etc...
Lovely place, great fun, highly recommend a visit, with or without children!
Certainly will return and try and stay longer.
Great place, don't think about it, GO!

Escape pods - perfect birthday treat!
May 2018 • Family
We booked the escape pods here for my daughter's 18th birthday with a mixture of her friends and our family, with a day of adventure actitvites attached.

From the moment we arrived the staff were on hand and friendly, eager to show us around this new facility. Nothing was too much trouble.

The escape pods themselves: These are kitted out for 5 , with comfortable beds (1 is a high sleeper ) for 5 - briliant for as being a family of 5 we often can't all get into one room etc which by and large are for 4 people only. Each bed has a pillow and duvet, you need to supply your own pillowcase and cover. They are a comfortable temperature inside, with heating if needed. Outside there is a boot box for muddy boots etc and hooks for wet or dirty gear - lucky for us we had brilliant weather so weren't used much by us.

The pods are set in an attractive glade and easy reach of the toilet and shower blocks. There is also a wooden under cover seating area for very hot days, plenty of outside pic nic tables and also a marquee with seating for if it rains - we used this later in the evenings for playing games. The Marquee also has a large fridge freezer for storing food; and a kettle for teas and coffee. There are also two large fire pits for a nice evening fire - just one of them was more than big enough for our party of 20.

During the day the teenagers had a brilliant time with Esther doing some of the adventure activites; grown ups and small children enjoyed wandering around the site and popping to the 'Retreat Cafe' only a few minutes walk off the site.

In the evening, we had a bbq, made s'mores, sat around the fire before having late evening coffee and cake.

We really had a comfortable, fun filled stay and would highly recommend this site

Can't wait to come back!
Mar 2018 • Friends
Perfect balance between camping and glamping. When we stayed, it didn't stop snowing the entire time but the pods were perfectly warm and dry. Having the fire pit nearby was great fun and allowed us to spend maximum time outside with the peace of mind that our kit was dry and we had somewhere warm to relax when it got too cold. The activities were great, and having the centre for a fry up just down the road was a bonus too! We will definitely be back :D

Cracking spot!!
Apr 2018 • Friends
The cabins were spot on for an adventure weekend away whilst still allowing you to stay dry and warm! Very friendly staff and they left us tonnes of wood for the bonfire and we're happy to leave us to it!

Would definitely go again.

Best camping experience whilst not having to be frozen
Mar 2018 • Friends
Stayed there with a few friends a week or so ago and had a fantastic time. Was staying in these new pods and even though the temperatures were sub zero, we were nice and toasty inside. The staff are fantastic and go out of their way for you.

I can't express how great and hospitable Tim was. I do not understand how anyone could have a problem with him as he was very accommodating and showed us everything we needed to know. When I had some questions, I just sent him a text and he was right there to help and his instructions were nice and clear.

A side note to say thanks to Emma, the Archery instructor. Very accommodating and an excellent tutor. They had a good selections of games to play and we had a fantastic time. We didn't have any time to do any other activities, but they've got a good selection of things to do from wall climbing to kayaking to treks etc etc.

All in all, both the staff and the pods were brilliant. I'd 100% recommend them to anyone who doesn't quite fancy sleeping outside, yet would still like to enjoy the forest as well as do some awesome activities.

Escape pods at Thorpe Woodlands
Mar 2018 • Friends
The best glamping/camping experience I have ever had! Our group of 10 friends took a one night stay in the beautiful Thetford forest, and as soon as we arrived I was impressed by the cosy sleep pods. It was an unusually cold March evening at minus 3 degrees celcius but the pods were heated and stayed warm all night. Having electricity in the pod meant there was even a place to charge my phone. I enjoyed the campfire area with plenty of seating and the marquis dining area. The toilet block was easily accessible and very clean, as was everything else. Thank you for a happy glamping experience!
