We haven't got to travel with this company because our day out has been cancelled. After all the rain we have had recently a few hot days has meant that it is too much of a fire risk for them to use a steam engine!! My 65th birthday treat cancelled because the weather is too hot. It could only happen... More

Fairly last minute booking only 4 days before the trip. The only seats were in Standard Class Arrived at Leeds in plenty of time and the diesel hauled carriages arrived on time. Very disappointed to find that the seats were in an old "passageway" carriage that you had to walk through the guards van to get to. Asked if any... More

Travelled on The Flying Scotsman tour from Leeds to Carlisle and back, what a thrill. This was childhood revisited and I am so grateful to my beloved Wife for booking this for us as a birthday present. The staff were brilliant, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The experience was awesome, there is nothing like the sound of a steam engine pulling... More

I bought my brother and myself tickets for the "Swanage Belle" on July 14th to celebrate his 60th birthday. We travelled 1st class and had a great day travelling in style. The service on the train was excellent, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would like particularly to mention the train manager who did a good job... More

I was amazed to see some of the negative reports on this company. They all seem to be from people with unreal expectations and no commercial understanding. I have travelled with RTC quite a few times both internationally and on UK day trips and, as their terms and conditions make abundantly clear, you need to be flexible and "roll with"... More

Had a really good day, with some hiccups, but the company appeared to cope well. The steam hauled service was delayed out of Victoria by a line side fire that affected signalling (beyond the companies control, it affected all SWtrains) and about 8 minutes late when we were picked up, but they managed to make up all the lost time... Starting in Leeds, diesel hauled to York, then chance to see the main attraction, Flying Scotsman. Hitched up and travelled via Durham to Newcastle then headed west to Carlisle. Followed by the return trip after a stop of about 2 hours. A full day's experience, great for any enthusiast and the kids. A real express, built in the 1920s but... More

I was lucky enough to be treated to a trip on a steam train to Weymouth yesterday. Weather was fabulous, great company.... But spoilt by the man in the buffet car who was, frankly, rude! His customer service skills were abysmal. No smile, no patience for a couple of obviously special needs gentlemen, he was surly and abrupt , really... More

Excellent day out. Great service. Although we were only in standard class our coach had an attendant of its own who ensured we were OK. Tannoy gave announcements with very informative guide book that have as much detail about each part of the journey. The locomotive was 'Galatea' and while not a Southern engine (none available) we did long stretches... More

My partner and myself have a passion for Heritage Railways, and she decided that my Christmas present, would be Premier Class aboard the Flying Scotsman from Victoria to York. What a fantastic day. It was amazing to see so many people, in every advantage point, to glimpse The Flying Scotsman. We only have great praise for all, the people on... More
