Kite Local School Tarifa is a kitesurf, windsurf and surf school that was founded by a local Tarifeno, Jesus Lara, in 2000. Not only is Jesus the owner of the school but he is also an instructor, and teaching classes is a genuine pleasure of his.

I was a complete beginner and I had 10 hours of lessons with Pablo (2 hours a day) I had a great time with Pablo, he was very caring and tried to make sure my experience was as best as possible. We changed kites and adjusted the lines to match the wind conditions and the walkie talkie communication was great. Lara (the boss) is great too, he taught my friend and she loved her lessons as well. The organisation of the lessons were also great, Marta was very responsive on WhatsApp and communicated well. Overall, great vibes, excellent employees and would definitely recommend!
Some advice for complete beginners, I would watch some videos prior to taking lessons as it saves time and gives you a better idea on what to expect. I did this before my lessons and it helped me a lot!
If you are sporty/fit, I would also recommend 3 hours per day as 2 hours felt a little short for me. You spend about half of the time walking along the beach to go back in the water as you will drift a lot.

This is definitely the best kite school of Tarifa. The kite teachers are awesome guys and a lot of fun. The school exists for 15 years already. The last day one of my friends was kiting like a pro. So if you want to teach kiting and have a good time you should go to Kite Local School.

great school with very good teachers. The guys really care about quality, details and safety. Fully recommend KLS and you will fly with them:) I will be back soon too:)

I took 2x semi-private and 2x private lessons with Lucho, which is a really good teacher! He explained the things in a good way, I understand and learned a lot. The difficulty is to get a feeling of the kite, but Lucho explained me with patience and serenity how to feel the kite and the wind and how to get control of the kite. I highly recommend the Kite Local School and Lucho! After though lessons, having a beer with the guys of Kite local school is the best. Hope to see you again and learn more about Kiting with KLS in Tarifa.

Lara owner of the school started the school over 26 years ago as windsurfschool. Now you can learn both Kite & Windsurfing. Lara puts safety first & fun first. The other teachers are also nice guys. I enjoyed my classes a lot and strongly recommend KiteLocal to you.

I was looking for kite surf classes for beginners, and I was recommended a Kite Local School by my friend from Tarifa. First, I was going to take group classes, but the school recommended me to take private, and indeed this is a right way to learn. Besides, I could stay in a cosy accommodation right next to the school, which is quite convenient. Location of the school is perfect - right next to the bus station and 5 mins walk from the beach and city centre.
As to the teachers, I had classes with Gabriel, an Italian who recently moved to Tarifa. He is very passionate about kite surf, and he helped me learn the basics quite rapidly. All the people were super nice and kind, and overall it was a great experience. Highly recommended!

Very friendly people with a relaxed approach who make sure that: you are safe, you understand the theoretical foundation and off course that you have a great time! Before every course thorough briefing on the wind and sea conditions and how this affects your gear choice and the way you need to kite. Afterwards a drink to at Chiringuito Agua bar and reflection on the lesson. I will definitely come back to Tarifa and to Jesus Lara's school!

After two days of strong Levante wind (no kiting possible for beginners) we coincidently were brought into contact with Kite Local School, after a short meeting in the old town with Paul Pico and Pierre we had a great start from the beginning. With pick up from the old town the friendliness was showed directly without any commercial interest. We were with a group of 4 friends and only 1 of us had some experience before; They made us a really good offer where we all got the right support and they really brought our levels up. I was actually surprised about the pricing of the lessons, where we had budgeted a little more for the kiting lessons.
We all tried to have 3 days lessons, but due to one day of not enough wind it was not a discussion wether or not we would have another lesson included in the course. I can really recommend the Kite Local school, very flexible and nice people. Also the owner Lara and the other instructor Heron felt like good friends after 'chilling' for 4 days on the beach and also outside of the lesson. For any people a big recommendation, and for Dutch people especially since they really know how to chill out!

The team of Kite Local School is all you can expect for a perfect and fun day at the beach, if you want to learn any kind of surfing. Security stands first and they have all the patience needed to teach our kids the basics of Kite surfing. They speak all kinds of languages. Absolutely to recommend for all kind of ages. We had a fabulous day with them at the beach. Thanks for making our vacation trip to Tarifa a memorable.
