We visited in the middle of August and did the dolphin/whale watching tour - saw some dolphins from far far away and that's about it. It is not worth the money.

We had a 9:00 appt but waited 2 hours for them to fill the boat because of their greed. Saw one whale in 2 hours. A waste of time and euros.

Having lived in Spain for awhile, I do not have too much expectations for the customer service. Some places really put effort on it, some don't... And well, as only this this company actually does is provide bookings, you would expect them at least try. The tour itself is executed by Turmares – they are just fine, yet it is not communicated clearly by Whale Watch Tarifa that they just offer bookings, do not do the tours themselves. So they are practically a middleman. And here is the moment when I can say "you had ONE job". Having written very clear email what we are looking for, we were booked to a wrong trip – which was already postponed day before outing. When we got to the agreed place to pick up tickets, we found out that we had received wrong info and we were booked in a wrong trip. We managed to work out participating our tour anyways – but then it was postponed again! They have zero communication with Turmares who actually are on charge of the tour and what you get from Whale Watch Tarifa is staff with an eye rolling attitude, no one taking responsibility, no one organizing or communicating (I speak both English and Spanish so surely there is no language barrier). There is no reason to use their services. Also, I was told on boat that for the last 4 days no orcas had been seen on the 3 hour orca cruises (which we attended too – and did not see any orcas, despite it should be their prime time in the area). This of course will not be mentioned to the customers...

Whale watching in the Mediterrean sea seems at first thought strange considering the heavy ship traffic and water pollution in the street of Gibraltar. However, large groups of dolphins and different species of whales actually are preying on food as we learned on whale watching trip with Whale watch Tarifa. Booking was easy by internet and/or phone. It is advisable to book several days in advance as the exact departure times might change due to weather conditions. In fact, we were informed about change of timetable in due time. Once aboard of a vessel carrying a maximum of about 190 passengers we were lucky to come across several groups of dolphins and whales. The crew was careful not to disturb the animals too much and requested the passengers to be calm. Explanations were given in Spanish and English on the different species and the problematic environmental situation was openly mentioned. If considering a whale watching trip (which can be questioned) give Whale Watch Tarifa a strong consideration. It is a non-profit organisation with very friendly and relaxed members having at hand good informations and besides doing work for scientists as well. The latter should be reason enough to support them. It is easy to find them. Follow the signs to the harbour and once you branch off to the left into the Av.Const. it is on the right side after a few meters. You can stop in front of the office and park you car on a parking area close by.

Thrilling, the tour is arrange directly in the offices located in front of the port of Tarifa. There are different types of tour, some longer than others, we took the 2 hours long tour, which includes navigation to the point of sighting and return. we did not see whales, only several types of dolphins, I think that we were at bad time. The best time is in the morning when the fishermen go fishing and attract the whales. Some people were seasick, so I think is advisable to take something for seasickness before boarding the boat
