Tarifa Max Kitesurfing School has been giving kite lessons in Tarifa, Spain since 1998, making us the kite school with the most of experience in the area, with proven techniques to ensure you learn to kitesurf quickly, safely and with a lot of fun. Our experience makes the difference. We are a hands on owner run business looking to give you the best service and value for money and will be on the beach to instruct and ensure the quality of your course. Our commitment: in our school the teacher will be with you in the water, to help you out and give you the best chances to get up on the board from the first go. Your course will be tailor made with detailed step by step instructions. You will be taught all the techniques of kitesurfing through step by step instructions which will provide you with all you need to know to improve your level quickly. We offer reduced group courses with 2 to 4 persons per instructor, semi-private lessons and private tuition, from 18€/h with all material, insurance, assistance boat and IKO license included. At the end of your Tarifa Max kitesurfing course you'll get your own official IKO card (International Kitesurfing Organisation) allowing you to go forth into the world as an independent kiter, and rent your equipment wordwide. We sell new and second hand material at the best price and you will be able to get one day for free to try the equipment. We are always happy to advise you and answer any queries. Tarifa Max has some new and exciting developments with the partnership of B3 Tarifa who will be providing our kite school with the newest and best 2017 Slingshot kites and boards. We also offer accommodation package in our kite House, 2 minutes walk from the town beach and the town center where you will find bars and restaurants. The house also offers gear storage for those who come with their own material, free pick to the beach and an ideal place to share great times in Tarifa. There is a great ambience in this newly renovated town house, with amazing views overlooking the old town and Moroccan cost. Come and enjoy kitesurfing with us in the midst of the amazing scenery and beauty of Tarifa, the southern point of Europe. I was in Tarifa for 2 weeks in June 2022. Took 8 private lessons with Tarifa Max, never kited before. Wind conditions in Tarifa were very tricky for a beginner when I was there - very light wind, very gusty wind, very strong wind. I've seen it all.. except for beautiful consistent wind Tarifa is famous for 🤣 this made learning very tough and frustrating at times with very slow progress.. but instructors at Tarifa Max (special shoutout to Guilia) were very encouraging, patient and knowledgable. They kept telling me that I am learning in the toughest conditions which will prepare me for kiting anywhere in the world. I was a bit sceptical of course, but 2 weeks ago I took a lesson in Squamish, Canada. I was complemented on my kite control many times and was able to ride right away even though I only got up to the water start in Tarifa. So... instructors from Tarifa Max were right! I also appreciated that safety was taken really seriously by my instructors.
In conclusion, I learned that the learning curve for kiting is very steep and can be greatly affected by weather conditions, so be ready for that. I also learned (after comparing to the Squamish school) that the setup is great in Tarifa - you have loads of room to learn how to setup and put away your kite, it's easier to walk on the beach than be driven around in a boat if you're prone to getting sea sick. Also although private lessons cost money, Tarifa was much cheaper than Squamish...and instructors really work for that money, you'll see! All in all, would definitely take lessons with Tarifa Max again 🤙

Superb! The team was absolutely amazing in providing a great kite experience for myself and my partner (I was a complete beginner and he is fairly advanced). Giulia was extremely knowledgeable and I felt very safe in her guidance. I learned more than I thought was possible and will recommend this kite surf school to everyone who will listen!
I did a 5 day course and my partner took a few lessons to improve on skills and learn more tricks, as well as rent gear. The team was great at tailoring to our individual needs and the approach was very friendly and accommodating!

I met the Tarifa Max kite team by chance, as this experience was gifted to me by my best friend.
It was our first time kite surfing so we shared lessons across 3 days and we had a private one on the 4th day.
What can I say...totally mind-blowing!
These guys totally know what they are doing to make sure you get the best out of the experience, in terms of safety and a genuine amount of fun.
The communication with Giulia was very fast, she's super kind!
Special mention also to Gautier and Gianluca.
They all really love this sport and spending time together it's been like opening the window and let the fresh air in.
I would recommend going for a week so you have flexibility if the conditions aren't great 1or 2 days (anyway the team will do everything to find the perfect spot)
Hope to have the chance to get back soon!!

I attended Max KiteSurf for a 11hr course over 4 days, 1:1 lessons. I started from level body-dragging. They guys inquired me beforehand my level to assess the best classes and tailor the lessons around my needs. The equipment provided was in order and good quality. For the all 9hr, they followed me with constant feedback, the necessary theory followed by lots of practice in the water. They listen to my needs and were patience to explain how kitesurfing works: bodydragging, standing, transitions. At the end of the 4dd, I was able to kitesurf autonomously which was my goal. Giulia and Mathieu are also friendly chaps to speak with and have a beer at a chiringuito. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Want to progress your kitesurfing or are a beginner wanting to learn - Tarifa Max are awesome!
Giulia and the team of instructors are friendly, professional and help you safely progress your riding with great equipment.
Communication was outstanding and Giulia really does keep you informed of everything both before your trip and on the timing and locations for each day. Makes everything super easy!
Next time I’m back in Tarifa, I will be booking more lessons with Tarifa Max

Great 4 day course with Gaultier who was a brilliant instructor! Fantastic fast communication from Giulia in prep for our trip and whilst we were there to make sure we were ready when the conditions were right.
It was mine and my boyfriends first time kite surfing so we shared lessons across 4 days. These guys totally know what they are doing to make sure you get the best out of the experience, are safe and have fun!
I would recommend going for a week so you have flexibility if the conditions aren't great on 1/2 days but Tarifa has loads more going on to keep you busy and the Max team have great food and activity recommendations!

I had three private lessons spread during two days as a total beginner. The instructor (Julia in my case) was very professional and friendly. I learned a lot during those sessions and would recommend this school to anyone willing to get into kite surfing.

Super Mathieu!!! He is the right one to introduce anybody into Kitesurfing. He is pretty good motivating with perfect communications skills. He is been a passionate pro kitesurfer for over 20 years. And still is what he practices in his free time. That is the way teachers might be in any subject.

I spent 4 days with this great crew of people. Not only I managed to stand for a few seconds after 12 hours of course (believe me, it’s hard), but I kind of felt in love with this sport. The whole team of instructors is super knowledgeable, patience and attentive to the details. I learned to focus on the little things that make the difference and this wouldn’t have been able without their expertise and fun way of teaching. I felt always safe and supported. Lastly, these guys are coming from interesting life backgrounds and conventional pasts, so it’s been a pleasure as well to connect on a human level in between water and wind training. I will definitely keep in touch and hopefully come back soon before the year ends. PS: Wishing Giulia and her man a fantastic wedding. W l’amour! ♥️😊

Five stars review without any doubt. Giulia and all the staff are really nice persons.
They are there to teach you kiting in the best way: mixing fun and safety.
I did the 5 days kite course and it was amazing.
