We sat in a nearby cafe overlooking the Church of San Mateo and decided to view the interior. What a stunning building right in the middle of the old town of Tarifa and with a superb interior. Well worth a visit.

It was at the end of the street the hotel was in so dropped in to take a look. Lots of Jesus and Mary statues, one of the most interesting is of Jesus depicted as a Black man, most likely very true!

This huge church is hidden in the very center of Tarifa and surrounded with small restaurants. The interior is regular as you can expect from well preserved historical heritage but the main gem is ceiling. Breathtaking construction makes this non ordinary.

One of the most memorable things about this church was the bells tolled every 15 mins. Church itself was beautiful and worth a visit
