Depending on what you are looking for exactly this could be the beach for you. It is very centrally located which is a benefit in one way but does mean that it gets very busy in the high season.

Having said that, it is very lovely and great to spend an hour or two relaxing in such beautiful surroundings. The beach itself is kept very clean and their own excellent facilities everywhere.

However, we preferred a little more relaxation so we used to go to the beach is a little further out of town as we had a car.

This was my favorite beach in Nerja--not very crowded and the sand was so soft. The water had a sand bottom as far out as I swam. The shore has great stones for skipping! It was more peaceful than Playa Burriana, and not rocky like Playa el Chucho. Also, you can explore the "cave" area at the east end of the beach--very cool!

This is one of two town beaches you’ll see from Balcon de Europa as you look over into the clear waters below. Although the sand in this narrow sheltered cove is dark and unnatractive, it’s clean, with a gently shelving beach. At first impression you might think it’s a private beach belonging to the hotel but it is accessible from the path below/around the Balcon or from alley off church square. However, you might feeling like you’re sunbathing in a goldfish bowl due to being overlooked by all the people above staring down!

Tuesday 10th May and we visited the resort town of Nerja where this small sandy beach is located on the right hand side of the iconic Balcón de Europa. It is the smaller of the two beaches that are either side of the Balcón.

The crescent shaped beach stretches about 200 metres (656 feet) long and is 20 metres (65 feet) wide at it's deepest point. The white coloured sand is washed by the gentle clear waters of Mediterranean Sea. Access to the beach is down a rather steep ramp.

It is in a picturesque setting with the Balcón de Europa on one side, some large rocks and the mountains behind it.

There are a number of bars & restaurants along the promenade at the back of the beach.

It is not really a beach visited by tourist, apart from sightseeing or a view from above. It does get busy with local people. Most people brought their own sunloungers and umbrellas to the beach.

One of Nerja's best beaches unfortunately inhabited by some families who are occupying old fishing huts at the back of the beach. Very anti-social at times and allowing their dogs to play on and foul the beach at will. We are residents of Nerja and always avoid this beach which is a shame as it is
one of our closest.

Our hotel overlooked this beach and though it is literally below the town square, I would skip this beach. Instead, walk about 15-20 minutes through town over to much more beautiful, scenic, well appointed Burriana Beach. However, for photos, walk at sunset, etc. this spot will do.

Unlike other reviewers I did not particularly like this beach. The beach itself was fine, only saw raw sewage on one of our days there. However you were told in no uncertain terms that you could not get a bed until after 9.00 am. most of the beds were reserved for the guests from the nearby hotel. Most morning's there were only 3 sets (two beds) left.

Some of the beds were torn or broken. The young girl looking after the beds were exceptionally rude ! The toilets were very basic with no toilet paper on any of the days we were there. However it is a quiet beach for relaxing...

Nice small beach. No facilities though and a steep walk down to it. Nice sand and was OK for a swim. Follow signs for Cochrans bar off the square where the church is and walk down to it.

El Salon beach has the best sand in the area. It is less commercialised than Burriana or Torecilla but appeals to those wanting a quiet time. Sun beds are available to hire and there is a wooden hut where cold drinks and icecreams can be purchased. The sea comes quite close and attracts lots of swimmers and paddlers of all ages. Fairly close to the edge there is a shelf, where the sand falls away and parents need to be watchful of this when paddling with small children (this same drop occurs on all the other beaches around)
