The path round the balk is still quite nice, but the beach is now a gathering place for the down and outs, and homeless. There was a cafe, but it is now derelict. Perhaps it will be rebuilt before summer.

What this beach lacks in privacy it makes up in style. Right beside le Balcon, the beach is nice sand and the area is sheltered from wind. Easy to get to; worth visiting.

A very small beach just off the Balcon de Europa. Pretty and unspoiled. Only one restaurant and no shops, so it may not be for you. It is situated very near Nerja centre, so a short walk will enable you to choose from dozens of restaurants and cafes. Recommended.

Small beach with fairly steep path for anyone with walking difficulties. Sadly what was a lovely spot some years ago has now been allowed to deteriorate and could do with a considerable amount of tlc to return it to it's former glory.

Yes, I agree with the other writers. This used to be a nice little restaurant on the beach in the heart of town. Now when you walk down the Balcon towards the sea the scenic veiw to the east is fabulous palm trees, mountain views and the coast line, the blue sea. But don't look down to the beach, to... More

I returned from Nerja on Dec 4th having stayed in an apartment on the Balcon next to the church from October 3rd. We have been there every year for the last five and this year could not believe how it has gone downhill. Vagrants with dogs walking around and openly drinking in the square and the police walking by not... More

Can only imagine that this was once a lovely place to sit on a warm day. Now a run down, dirty beach with a derelict restaurant and home to the homeless and their dogs. How on earth the council can let this happen in such a prominent tourist spot, I have no idea. Especially when the shell of the restaurant... More

Vagrants and dogs now inhabit the beach around the now disused Papagayo restaurant. The Council do have plans to improve yhis beach but in the meantime the situation has worsened. I have seen dogs being mistreated and any incidents should be reported. Nerja is a great town and we must hope that this is a temporary situation.

This used to be a great little spot just off from the Balcon. I would not advise going there with children or if you are of a nervous disposition. The problem is the Papagayo bar closed and now seems to be inhabited by vagrants. They have dogs which they allow to foul the beach so you cannot leave children unattended.... More
