This indoor market has been here quite a number of years now and many people refer to it as the Merca-centro. It is situated on the principal roundabout into Fuengirola with the local train station to Malaga and its airport on the opposite side, along with a taxi rank. The bus station, local and regional, is about 100m away and the seafront is about 200m further on.

The ground floor of the market is mostly tourist type ‘locals’ (lock-up shops), plus a chemists, news agents and a very good ‘herbalists’ shop towards the back. Upstairs, with access by stairs or a lift, are the main fruit and veg., fishmongers, butchers and flower shops, all with fresh produce and personal service that you cannot always get in the supermarkets. At the back, near the herbalists shop, is another entrance/exit to the Merca-centro, a short distance from the nice café/restaurant Tres Coronas. You can read the reviews about that place elsewhere on Trip Advisor.

There is underground parking below the Merca-centro, but not all 24hr parking. Street parking is available nearby, that will cost you about 80 centimos an hour from 8:30am to 2:00pm and then from 4:30pm to 9:00pm Monday to Friday, and Saturday till 2:00pm.

Thanks for reading this and if you've found it helpful I'd appreciate a ‘thumbs up’ below.

Located across the road fro the train station stands the Municipal Market, spaning over two floors there are many stands and shops, selling local wares such as fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables, it was nice just to cruise around.

My family and I absolutely love this place - it is totally Spanish. The people are friendly and the food is delicious. The produce in the stalls is top notch - fish fresh from the sea, fabulous spices, and lovely fruit and veg. Don't let the fact that it looks a bit run down put you off. This place is a gem.

I love this market, it has a great cafe on the top floor and you can get nice food there, including herbs, spices, souvenir, fruit etc. etc. Friendly stall holders, I always enjoy going there for breakfast. But I heard the local council is really against it and so won't invest in it. What a pity. Every nice SPanish town has its market so I don't know what the council has against this place. It is a good building, selling really nice things and typically spanish but it starts to seem as if it is struggling.

A great place to buy spices, fresh and bagged. Meat and produce available. In last years many shops have closed down and needs a revamp from the town hall.

Set on two levels this local market is starting to look it's age however, there are many stalls selling there wares, souvenirs and local items on the ground floor, up the escaltors is the fresh foods , fish, meats, cheeses etc, all worth a look, however we prefer the super sol and mercadona across the road.

Small market with two floors but not very active, a lot of stalls closed. There's much more worth buying in an average supermarket. Built in 1986 and probably seen better days.

In response to the last review. I went there yesterday as my Mum wanted to go. I nearly told her not to as she has bad legs and the previous review warned about getting around here. There is a lift and an escalator. Didn't look around. Food on the top floor though. Few market type shops on the ground floor.
It is right opposite the train station.

Nice to wander around with a small variety of shops/stalls.

Beware most of the shopping is on an upper floor and the escalator doesn't always work. Not sure if there us a lift but additional stairs to underground parking.

Not the most disabled friendly but obviously built some years ago.
