About
In the heart of Fuengirola, you can find this set of Roman archaeological ruins discovered in 1987. The grounds take up half a hectare and consist of a salting factoring, pottery studio and a Roman bathhouse. The park offers a beautiful journey to the past to discover the way of life during the Roman period. The ruins have seen the discovery of invaluable pieces such as agriculture tools or the Fuengirola Venus, one of the emblems of this town.

What a fantastic place for a bar, The place fills you with awe when you think over 2000 years ago there were Romans living and working here. Sitting there drinking a glass of Vino overlooking the Roman ruins of the Finca Secretario where the Romans cured the fish to make their garum sauce. To stand where they once trod. The food was mainly tapas but they do have plated meals and snacks too. An experience not to be missed, only down side it is difficult to park and walking there is the best way to enjoy this little Secret of Los Boliches.

Read about this site online but the address provided turned out to be incorrect- evetually located a mile further out of Fuengirola on Avenue Nuestro Padre Jesus Cautivo next to Jazzy bar. The site contains ruins of a fish salting works and roman bath and is crammed in an unlikely setting between two major roads and some flats. The site is free and has a number of information boards explaining the details. For a busy location it is surprisingly tranquil and the mosaic in the bath house quite lovely. The Cafe bar has outside seating overlooking the ruins and serves great coffee, the menu looked good too although we did not have the time to stop and sample it. A great little find well worth a visit.

Have been here a few times. It is free and easy to get to being about 5 minutes walk from the Fuengirola promenade and about 2 minutes from the Los Boliches Cercanias train station. Walking around it takes about 15 minutes. Small cafe and park next to it so you can either buy or bring refreshment. You can see the remains of chambers used to make garum, a fish sauce in great demand in the Roman world. Remains of an oven and baths which are in pretty good condition. Overall an interesting site worth seeing if you are at that end of the town of Fuengirola.

This is an interesting archaeological site from the Roman period. Partly this is the remnants of an antique "Cannery Row", where the standard Roman fish preserve Garum was manufactured and "canned" in locally produced amphoras. The other part is a Roman bath. Unfortunately, we did not get access to the latter, it was closed and the website was a bit vague about the opening hours. This site will take you a bit out of your way, still it is well within walking distance from central Fuengirola and comes with a café that serves lunch, You can sit in the shade and eat overlooking the site.

Interesting roman site. Free to go in. Suggest you'll be there about 1 hour without kids or stopping to eat. Make sure you get to the end of the road by Av. Finlandia (by the roundabout which features a green Fiat car!) - the map shows this as being at the Market about a mile away.

We didn't know what to expect when we sought out these Roman remains of private baths, alongside those of a pottery workshop and garam production. There isn't too much left as a main road was built over the top of the villa which was probably attached, however there were certainly enough mosaics, steps and suitable ante-rooms to the bath house to make the visit very interesting and worthwhile. Free entry too.

My family (my spouse and I and our two young adult children) were walking around Fuengirola and saw the Roman ruins among the list on here. It was quite a walk since the site lies well to the north of the center of town. The positives: free, an important tie with the distant past, interesting on a certain level. The negatives: overgrown, requires a GREAT deal of imagination, and very, very poor explanatory signs. The various signs simply told you what had gone on at whatever site you were at, but were very unhelpful explaining exactly what you were looking at or helping you imagine what the complex might have looked like or how it might have actually functioned. Interesting, but maybe not worth a three-mile walk.

There are no tourist signs for this so it was a great find from Google. The ruins are lovely, with mosaic floor in the courtyard really well preserved. They're small so it doesn't take long to visit them and it's free to get in, which is a bonus! One part of the ruins were the pottery kilns and fish storage and the other side has thermal baths and courtyards. Lovely place is relax.
