This is an archeological site (do not expect to see full city walls) that has been excavated and rescued in the past 10-20 years, as unfortunately, the city has little historical (i.e. architectural) heritage. There is a small bridge, the remains of a few towers, a moat etc. Good illumination during the night time. It is in a central/safe area of the city, next to lots of shops and tapas bars in Calle Alfonso XI. So it is fine to walk around at day or night time.
It is probably hard to make sense of it, unless you read on it/ go on a small tour. There is a tiny but interesting cultural centre/museum next to the site (in Avenida Blas Infante) that will help you to envisage what the walls were in the old days, as well as to see some videos, pottery from the site etc. I have given a good review as I like this small museum. If you are trying to make time in town do visit, entry to the museum is free and it is very close to the harbour/ ferry port.

Interesting thing to see when in the town, but I wouldn't go especially. It's obviously and important part of the history of Algeciras.

Came across this by accident rather than looking for it. No real information once we were there. Spent time trying to figure it out by the engraved title in the strip of stone further up the road. However really good to see it's been preserved for all to see

If ancient ruins, archeology, and history excite you, this may be the place for you. It isn't a large area, but it does show walls, tunnels, and huge round rock that I have no idea about. These ruins have recently been uncovered during an excavation project.

My wife and I recently visited Algeciras, Spain during our two week trip to Spain, Portugal, and Gibraltar. We decided to visit the Historic District of Algeciras and spent the entire day sightseeing.
The area is home to some of the nicest plazas, cafes, shops, mercado, and parks. The Parque Arqueologico is located right next to the Parque Maria Cristina and both are worth visiting. The Parque Arqueologico was very interesting and well preserved. A great piece of Spanish history has been saved right in the heart of this beautiful city. And it is worth taking the time to visit....

Interesting remains from different eras of the walls that protected the city. It's a shame that they aren't cared for more by local cultural heritage. However, the information we received from the This app's story game on Algeciras and Paco de Lucia is curious.
