Situated in the heart of the Bucegi Mountains and reaching the highest altitude in Romania a cable has reached– 2050 m, Sinaia Gondola can be seen as the transition point between sky and earth, between beautiful and spectacular. The 1000-1400 section of Sinaia Gondola starts from Furnica neighborhood, reaching 1400 elevation. This section was opened in 2007, having 34 gondolas, each being able to carry up to eight people. The length of this section is 1312 meters. The maximum transportation capacity is 1700 people / hour and the gondolas are provided with external pockets for skis and snowboards. The 1400-2000 section of Sinaia Gondola is one of the latest and most performant cable installations from Europe and around the Globe, merging the two ski areas from Sinaia: the low and high altitude ski areas. Being equipped with ultramodern functioning systems and the latest technology in its field, the 1400-2000 section of Sinaia Gondola has two diesel engines and the latest energy saving system, named Direct Drive, which ensures a 20% reduction in electricity consumption as against traditional systems. This new section of Sinaia Gondola establishes three national records: the installation reaches the highest altitude in Romania – 2050 meters; in Valea cu Brazi area it reaches the biggest height from the ground ever recorded by an installation of this kind, 120 meters; this installation crosses the steepest segment of a cable installation – 45 degrees at the first three pylons. Soarelui Chairlift was developed for the slopes on the west side, being a modern cable installation with 85 chairs. The retractable cupola, ecological red leather seather, alongside with the silent engines offer tourists the most confortable chairlift trips from Romania. Partia Noua skilift is a babyski set for people learning how to ski or snowboard. It is situated at the end of Partia Noua slope. Throughout the skilift’s distance there is a nocturne installed which is perfectly suited for extended skiing or snowboarding days.

First of all, the website and Facebook page of Gondola operator is daily updated with the weather condition and forecast around all their stations in Bucegi (during the ski season, at least). So you know in advance what to expect up there and which ski lifts are operational.
Visited the ski resort in January 2020 and there was no snow below the altitude of 2000 meters, as there was a dam' hot and dry January. However, there was some snow in Valea Soarelui and around (topped with artificial snow), so we managed to enjoy some ski sessions. However, the ski pass issued by Gondola operator is valid for Gondola facilities only and for Valea Soarelui ski lifts. For Valea Dorului ski lifts you need to buy a ski pass from the other cableway operator in the region, which operates some outdated installations.
All in all, a decent way to reach the Plateau of Bucegi Mountain to do some ski, hiking or mountain cycling (according to the season). There's a large parking at the bottom station (parking fee is 15 lei/day, that's about 3.30 Euro), a restaurant, public toilets, coffee shops and ski gear rentals. The road to the bottom Gondola station is picturesque and there are some more restaurants on the way.

We were lucky enough to get an empty cars on the way up (probably because we went up late in the day), which definitely made the journey more enjoyable. It all feels very safe and stable, even when making our way down with hordes of skiers. I would definitely recommend taking both cars all the way up to 2000m.

The city of Sinai is a mountainous city and has grown over time around a monastery called Mount Sinai. The first Bible to be copied in Romania is preserved in the monastery and is today a popular tourist destination. Travelers enjoy hiking in the area during the summer and skiing in the area has many fans during the winter. In the late 19th century King Charles I chose Sinai as his summer residence and ordered the construction of a famous castle called Peles Castle near the city. Nowadays this work has become a popular tourist attraction and it is the most beautiful castle in Europe. It is famous for growing beautiful flowers, but tourists are better off neglecting them, otherwise the parks would welcome them with warm water.

Watch out if you want to ski here! There are 2 companies and both don’t work with each other so you need to book each company separately costing double. When the wind blows, they don’t operate so lost 2 days of skiing and they don’t reimburse when you buy full day ticket. This resort is not great for skiing so would suggest you go somewhere like the alps.

They have quite large ticket prices for romania ,I paid a full ticket without any discount for the ascent and descent from Sinaia - altitude1400m - altitude 2000m .
I climbed to the 2000m I made a small trip , I returned to 16.35 to the gondola.
They told me that they closed , they can not help me , to take the walk from the quota 2000m to Sinaia .Although the gondolas were working and I had paid the ticket they did not return me any money.
I was not the only one cheated by this company, there were older people, cyclists .

It works from time to time and when it does, if is snow only in the Sun Valley (a short slope) you pay a lot per hour (half-day ticket, 20 euros for 2:30 hours of skiing). Worst offer in Prahova-Brasov area. Not for skiing
In rest: a terrible/ugly place at the midway stop and nothing on top station, except the view.
Could be OK for mountain biking, not sure.

I have tried 3 times this year to go to Sinaia for skiing and every time the slopes and gondola were closed. After some research I found out that the people in change are from ciryhall and there is not a private company in charge. So why stress, we pay anyway for their salaries. A lot of excuses every day...

We came here after seeing it from Peles castle. Both cable cars 55lei/person and 15lei for parking. Weather was good so we had amazing view. Each station has to offer beverages. Middle one also food which looked good from table next to us. Its worth going only if you are not afraid of heights and love nice views.

We visited on our only day in Sinaia to experience the amazing views, so we rode the gondola to the 2000 height. The gondola was modern and well maintained, and view on the ride up and down was great. However, we expected that there would be a purpose built viewing platform or the like for people wanted to experience the view however neither the 1400 or 2000 landings had this. The first landing at 1400 looked like a construction site with one restaurant off to the side. It was poorly kept and not appealing to visitors. There was also nothing at the 2000 landing. We wandered around for a little while trying to make the most of our trip up there, but there just wasn't much to it so we came back down. It felt like there is a missed opportunity here. I can see that the gondola is necessary and helpful to skiers and hikers, but not to tourists wanting a viewing experience. We certainly left disappointed.

Having been here a few days, having heard all of the excuses I can confirm Sinaia is not a ski resort, rather a troubled area with some snow and ski lifts that don't run when the city hall cant be bothered. Having to buy two ski passes in one advertised ski area is insane and all because the children in the city hall can't agree who's the boss.

Only the tourist suffer in this "resort". I can bet no one returns having been subject to this poorly ran area. The lifts are closed too often especially when the ski numbers are low, due to bad winds, they say. I was at the top of the mountain during these "bad winds" and you couldn't fly a kite. Such a wasted area of natural beauty. Whoever runs city hall needs to leave quickly, whoever runs Teleferic SA, needs to leave quickly and one person (maybe someone who is good a customer service, is interested in Sinaia prospering, rather than their own bank account) should step in and take over.

To summarise, this is not a Ski resort, go somewhere else to ski, but if you want to
Get nice views, make sure you buy all the access cards you need from whichever operator you need to and enjoy.

We are so sorry that your source of information was so subjective. Clearly. Sinaia is not a troubled area with some snow, it is one of the best ski resorts that Romania can offer. Hint: https://www.romania-insider.com/best-ski-resort-romania/ Politics has nothing to do with strong winds and we are happy to tell you that today, after 77 days of ski this season, from nov 29 till today - we had only 8 days without working with the public, due to this strong winds that happen so often on the Bucegi Plateau. We are sure that with a clean eye, maybe next season, you willl find Sinaia more charming just for what it is. Cheers!
